Quanta Services is the largest specialty infrastructure contractor serving the North American electric grid, building and maintaining the power lines, substations, renewable-generation facilities and underground utility infrastructure that utilities, data-center operators, industrial customers and communications providers rely on. It now operates through two segments — Electric Infrastructure Solutions and Underground Utility and Infrastructure Solutions — the former having absorbed the renewable-energy construction business built primarily through the 2021 acquisition of Blattner Holding Company, which materially expanded Quanta's renewables and large-load-center (data center, advanced manufacturing) capabilities. No single customer is a dominant source of revenue: the largest customer was 8% of 2025 revenue and the top ten customers were 30%. We value the business on owner earnings — operating cash flow after stripping out the swing in working capital, stock-based compensation, and the portion of capital spending that funds growth rather than simply maintaining the existing equipment and vehicle fleet. Owner earnings per share have grown every year since the Blattner acquisition, from about $4.19 in 2021 to roughly $10.18 in 2025, reflecting both the electrification/grid-hardening buildout and increasingly the demand utilities and technology companies are placing on Quanta to build power infrastructure for data centers. Because that growth has been unusually fast and partly aided by favorable timing in customer billing in 2024, we anchor the valuation on the median of the 2021–2025 period (the years since the business took its current shape) rather than the most recent year alone, which works out to about $7.02 of owner earnings per share. Trailing actual growth in 2025 was roughly 33%; our base case assumes a materially slower 15% growth in year one, tapering to mid-single digits by year ten, since a company of Quanta's scale cannot be expected to keep compounding at a one-year rate driven partly by working-capital timing. Our base case assumes the grid-modernization, electrification and data-center power buildout continues at a healthy but decelerating pace over the next decade, supported by Quanta's recurring master-service-agreement relationships (which made up 44% of total backlog in 2025) with utility customers. Our bear case assumes the current capex supercycle plateaus by the late 2020s as several major utility customers substantially complete their currently-disclosed multi-year transmission and hardening programs, competition intensifies for both skilled labor and new grid-modernization contracts (acquisition and integration costs already rose sharply in 2025), and margins compress modestly, leaving owner earnings roughly flat over the decade with a mild real decline in the years beyond. Our bull case assumes Quanta continues converting its backlog into revenue at an accelerating pace as data-center and reshoring-driven electricity demand keeps exceeding current expectations, with operating leverage and a richer project mix expanding margins. On these assumptions we estimate intrinsic value per share of roughly $122 in the bear case, $240 in the base case and $317 in the bull case, discounted at a flat 6% with no risk premium (risk is reflected in the width of the range, not the discount rate). In all three cases, more than half of the value depends on what Quanta earns beyond the ten-year forecast window (roughly 53-67% of total value across the three cases), because we believe this is a business that renews itself indefinitely — there is no dated contract or patent cliff, and the capital that sustains the existing fleet and equipment base is already charged inside owner earnings. We treated that long-run tail conservatively, assuming close to flat real owner earnings per share after year ten in the base case, a mild real decline in the bear case, and only slight real growth in the bull case, rather than assuming the current elevated growth phase continues indefinitely. Accounting judgments worth noting: goodwill and acquisition-related intangible amortization are large (intangible amortization was about $499 million in 2025) because Quanta has grown substantially through acquisition; we add these back fully as non-cash in owner earnings (consistent with how the method treats sunk acquisition cost) but reflect the related integration and competitive risk in the bear case rather than in the earnings level itself. There have been no goodwill impairments in 2024 or 2025, which is a reasonable indicator of acquisition discipline to date, though it cannot rule out future write-downs. Working-capital swings were large and partly offsetting in 2024 and 2025 (receivables growing faster than billings in some periods, offset by unusually large increases in amounts billed ahead of costs on large projects in others); we used the actual reported cash-flow reconciliation each year rather than smoothing it, and note this as a source of some year-to-year noise in the reported owner-earnings series. Total debt was about $6.0 billion against $9.0 billion of equity and roughly $1.5 billion of 2025 owner earnings — moderate leverage for a capital-intensive contractor that we factored into the bear case rather than as a balance-sheet deduction from value. What would make this analysis wrong: if the electrification and data-center power buildout decelerates faster than our bear case assumes, or if Quanta's continued reliance on acquisitions to sustain growth leads to integration problems or overpayment that current results don't yet show.
