Voyager Therapeutics is a clinical-stage gene therapy and neuroscience company. It has no approved products. Its revenue is collaboration income from partners (Neurocrine Biosciences, Novartis and Alexion/AstraZeneca Rare Disease) that use its capsid delivery technology. Its own lead programs are an anti-tau antibody for Alzheimer's disease (VY7523, in a Phase 1 trial) and a tau-silencing gene therapy (VY1706, still preclinical, with a Phase 1 start planned for the second half of 2026). What the earnings record shows. We measure owner earnings as operating cash flow, less working-capital swings, less stock compensation, less capital spending. We strip out working-capital swings because most of them here are deferred revenue: partners pay large upfronts that are then recognised as revenue over time, so cash and revenue rarely line up. In seven of the last ten years (2016 to 2025) owner earnings were negative. The exceptions were 2020 (about $0.71 per share), 2023 (about $2.90 per share, when new Neurocrine and Novartis agreements signed that year lifted revenue to $250.0 million) and no others. The ten-year median is about negative $1.54 per share. Revenue then fell to $80.0 million in 2024 and $40.4 million in 2025, while operating expenses rose to $172.2 million in 2025 and the net loss was $119.7 million. Owner earnings for 2025 were about negative $2.10 per share, worse than 2024 (about negative $1.17), so we give no growth credit. All capital spending is treated as maintenance, because revenue swings here come from partner payments and do not reflect expansion of facilities. Why this is valued on cash. There is no earnings stream to discount, and the spending on tau programs is a choice. We credit no value for pipeline success, partner milestones or royalties that have not yet been earned, because none of that is contracted or proven. What can be evidenced is cash: $201.7 million of cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities at 31 December 2025 (about $3.42 per share on 59.0 million shares outstanding). The company says this, plus partner reimbursements and interest, funds planned spending into 2028, and it also says it will need substantial additional funding. Bear case (about $1.15 per share): spending keeps running at the 2025 cash-burn rate ($132.5 million used in operations), leaving roughly $69 million by end of 2026, and the tau programs and partnered programs add nothing we can point to. Base case (about $1.40 per share): burn continues at the first-half 2026 pace ($59.3 million used in operations in six months, versus $71.2 million a year earlier), leaving roughly $83 million by end of 2026. Revenue in the first half of 2026 was only $5.8 million versus $11.7 million a year earlier, so no revenue recovery is assumed. Bull case (about $1.60 per share): the base case plus about $12 million of partner milestones, the size of the $3.0 million payment received in 2024 when the GBA1 program's lead candidate was selected, arriving four times by year-end. What would make this wrong: positive Phase 1 data for VY7523 or VY1706, or large partner milestones (the 2023 Neurocrine deal alone carries up to $275 million per discovery program in potential milestones), would be worth much more than we credit. Conversely, further capital raising would dilute existing holders. The 2026 cash figures are our own extrapolation from reported cash flow, since a full balance sheet for mid-2026 was not used.
