ePlus is a technology solutions provider: it sells IT hardware and software (product segment), implements and supports it (professional services), and runs it on an ongoing basis for customers (managed services). Cisco networking gear remains its largest product line, though that reliance has been shrinking - Cisco fell from about 44% of net sales two years ago to roughly 29% today as the company has diversified into AI infrastructure, cloud, data center, and security offerings. The most important recent event is a divestiture. During the fiscal year ended March 2026, ePlus sold its domestic equipment-financing and leasing business to PEAC Solutions, keeping only a smaller international financing operation. That business used to require the company to continuously fund a growing pool of lease and loan receivables, which made cash flow choppy from year to year. With it gone, ePlus is now a more straightforward, much less capital-intensive reseller and services business. Because this is such a recent and material change, we based our estimate of what the company earns today on the three most recent fiscal years, restated to show the business as it exists now (excluding the financing business that was sold), rather than on a longer history that describes a company that no longer exists in its old form. On that basis, normalized owner earnings (cash profit after removing the swings from inventory and receivables timing, after a real charge for stock-based compensation, and after the modest ongoing equipment spending the business needs) came to a median of about $4.12 per share across fiscal 2024-2026. The most recent year, fiscal 2026, was unusually strong: revenue grew 22%, driven by broad-based enterprise demand across telecom, healthcare, technology, retail and financial-services customers, and profit grew even faster because overhead didn't grow as quickly as sales. We do not expect that pace to continue and have assumed materially slower growth going forward. Our base case assumes owner earnings grow at a mid-to-high single-digit rate through the next several years as enterprise IT and AI-infrastructure spending continues, then settles into low-single-digit growth in the back half of the ten-year forecast as the market matures and margin pressure (a gradual shift toward lower-margin, net-recognized third-party maintenance and subscription sales) persists. Beyond the ten-year forecast, we assume the business continues indefinitely at a very modest, sub-inflation growth rate - this is a relationship- and expertise-driven reseller/services business without patents or contracts that expire on a fixed date, but also without a structural competitive edge that would justify above-average perpetual growth in a competitive IT distribution market. On these assumptions we estimate the shares are worth around $115 today. Our bear case assumes a repeat, and modest extension, of the kind of soft demand environment the company actually experienced in fiscal 2025 (when revenue fell about 8%), combined with continued erosion in gross margin from vendor and product mix. In this case, owner earnings decline for a couple of years before stabilizing at a low growth rate, and we estimate the shares would be worth around $60. Our bull case assumes the strength seen in fiscal 2026 is closer to the new normal rather than a one-off rebound - continued double-digit growth for several years as AI-driven infrastructure demand persists and the higher-margin services mix improves profitability - worth around $188 per share in that scenario. Given the width of that range, we estimate the margin-of-safety price today, one that offers a real margin of safety against the downside case, at around $78 per share. There is no separate business condition attached to that price; it already reflects the risks discussed above. A few judgment calls worth noting. First, in the years before the financing-business sale, that business required ongoing cash investment to grow its loan and lease book; we treated that growth as a real, recurring use of cash (similar to inventory for a bank) rather than a timing swing to be added back, which makes some of the pre-2024 historical figures volatile and, in one year (fiscal 2020), negative. We did not use those years to set today's valuation for exactly that reason - they describe a business ePlus no longer runs. Second, a meaningful share of ePlus's depreciation and amortization each year (roughly three-quarters) is amortization of intangible assets from prior acquisitions, which is a real add-back to cash flow but represents value that gradually wastes away; we accounted for this by keeping our long-term growth assumption modest rather than by reducing the near-term earnings figure itself. Everything used in this analysis reconciled cleanly to the company's reported cash flow statements with no unexplained gaps.
