LeMaitre Vascular designs, manufactures, and sells medical devices used in peripheral vascular surgery -- grafts, catheters, valvulotomes, and biologic patches used by surgeons treating diseased blood vessels outside the heart. The company holds a portfolio of small, specialized products (its bovine-tissue Artegraft graft, its XenoSure biologic patch, its AnastoClip closure devices, among others) that larger device makers tend to overlook, and sells them worldwide through its own direct sales force -- a model it has run consistently for two decades. About 57% of 2025 sales were in the United States, with the balance spread across dozens of countries, led by Germany, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Owner earnings -- the cash the business throws off after the capital spending needed to sustain (not grow) the operation -- have compounded from about $0.64 per share in 2016 to roughly $3.02 per share in 2025. The last two years were helped by the 2025 European launch of Artegraft (following a CE Mark approved in April 2025) and by rising gross margins (71.5% of sales in 2025, versus 65.6% in 2023), the payoff from a multi-year manufacturing upgrade at the Artegraft plant. We valued the business off a normalized owner-earnings level of about $1.74 per share -- the middle of the last five years (2021-2025), a window chosen to start after the 2020 Artegraft acquisition and to smooth out both an unusually strong 2025 and a softer 2022 (when inventory rebuilding and a divestiture loss weighed on results). From that base, three cases were built: Base case (approx $103/share): Assumes the playbook that has run for years -- adding sales reps, launching existing products in new countries (as it just did with Artegraft in Europe, and is doing in Australia and Canada), and modest further margin gains -- continues, but well below the roughly 32-34% earnings growth of the last year. We assumed owner earnings grow around 12% annually near-term, tapering to about 7% by year ten, in line with the company's revenue growth over the past decade. Beyond that, we assumed modest continued compounding (3% a year) on the strength of a genuinely repeatable model: for more than two decades, LeMaitre has kept adding small, specialized vascular products and rolling them out through its existing sales channel, without depending on any single patent or blockbuster product. Bull case (approx $191/share): Assumes the international rollout of Artegraft and other products continues to land as well as it has recently (matching the pace seen in 2025 and the first half of 2026) for several more years before slowing, alongside continued gross-margin gains. Bear case (approx $27/share): LeMaitre disclosed in its most recent annual report that the FDA issued a warning letter in August 2025 following an inspection of the New Jersey facility that makes Artegraft -- a product line that, unusually, has no patent protection and has been a major source of recent growth. This case assumes the matter escalates into a more serious enforcement action that disrupts Artegraft production and sales for a period, combined with the kind of working-capital-driven cash drag the company has seen before (2019, 2022). Earnings stall and dip for a few years before slowly recovering. Worth noting: the balance sheet is strong -- over $460 million of current assets against $172.5 million of convertible notes issued in December 2024 -- so this is a scenario of a difficult multi-year stretch, not a threat to the company's survival. This is the first review of LeMaitre, so there is no prior estimate to compare against. What would make this analysis wrong: if the newly opened international markets for Artegraft don't scale as hoped, if the FDA matter proves more serious than currently indicated, or if the strong 2025-2026 results turn out to be a temporary pull-forward rather than a durable new growth rate. The margin-of-safety price is around $70 -- a meaningful discount to our estimate of what the business is worth, to compensate for the fact that a large share of that estimate depends on growth persisting many years into the future, and for the real, if modest, downside risk from the FDA matter and the unpatented nature of a key growth product.
