Enphase Energy makes microinverters, home batteries, EV chargers and software for residential solar systems, sold mostly through distributors and installers, with the large majority of sales in the United States. Since 2019 the business grew from about $0.6 billion to a peak of $2.3 billion of revenue in 2022 and has since shrunk to about $1.5 billion in 2025. The most recent quarter (first quarter of 2026) showed revenue of $283 million, down about 21% from a year earlier, with a small net loss. How we measure earnings: we start from operating cash flow, remove swings in receivables, inventory, prepaid items and payables, subtract stock compensation as a real cost (about $214 million in 2025, roughly $1.59 per share), and subtract only the capital spending needed to maintain operations. On that basis owner earnings per share were about $0.89 (2019), $1.34, $1.49, $3.48 (2022 peak), $2.89, $0.93 (2024) and $1.93 (2025). We anchor on the 2019-2025 median of about $1.49, the period since the company became a profitable scale business, and it spans both the boom and the downturn. A key judgement: about $239 million of 2025 profit (roughly $1.77 per share) came from the federal Advanced Manufacturing Production Tax Credit on microinverters, which is recorded as a reduction of cost of goods and mostly sat as an uncollected tax receivable at year end ($227.5 million). We treat the receivable build as timing, not lost cash. But this credit is a government subsidy: under current law it falls 25% per year starting 2030 and ends after 2032, and new foreign-entity-ownership rules could restrict it. Meanwhile the residential solar tax credit for homeowners expired on December 31, 2025, which management flags as a headwind to US demand. Growth-path check: owner earnings grew about 108% in 2025, but that was a rebound from a depressed 2024 driven by working-capital timing. Our first-year assumption is a decline, not growth, because of the credit expiry and the 21% fall in first-quarter revenue. Bear case (about $2.70 per share): demand keeps falling after the homeowner credit expiry, the company earns almost nothing from its core business, and only a reduced manufacturing credit (about $0.60 per share a year) supports earnings through 2029, then phases down to zero by 2033. Value after that is zero. Base case (about $9.20 per share): owner earnings of about $1.30 per share through 2029 ($0.40 from the core business and $0.90 from the manufacturing credit at lower volumes), the credit fading 25% a year from 2030 to zero after 2032, and the core business holding at about $0.40 per share for roughly 25 years, supported by a long record of surviving the 2016-2018 trough on under $320 million of annual revenue. We credit no growth: nothing in the filings secures new growth (backlog, contracts) so none is assumed. Bull case (about $17 per share): revenue recovers to its 2025 level, the credit stays near its 2025 size through 2029, and the core business earns about $0.70 per share a year, roughly what it did in 2019-2021 at similar scale. What would make this wrong: a legislative or foreign-ownership ruling that removes the manufacturing credit sooner, or a collapse in US installations, would push value toward the bear case; a rapid rebound in residential installations or the credit being extended would push it above the base. The company holds convertible notes, which is one reason the bear case is kept conservative. We could not reconcile every non-cash and working-capital line item exactly against the filings; the figures above are derived from the main cash-flow lines.
