Ambiq Micro, Inc. (AMBQ) stock intrinsic value fair value estimate & owner earnings analysis

Margin of safety$0.00 ComplexityAverage Updated
Business condition attached to the margin of safety Positive owner earnings (operating cash flow after stock compensation, working capital swings and capital spending, including purchased intellectual property) for at least several consecutive quarters.
Ambiq Micro is a fabless semiconductor company. Its patented Sub-threshold Power Optimized Technology (SPOT) platform is designed to sharply reduce the power that chips use, aimed at battery-powered and wearable devices. It went public in 2025, so only two annual filings are available. What the numbers show. Revenue was $76.1 million in 2024 and $72.5 million in 2025, with net losses of $39.7 million and $36.5 million. Operating cash flow was negative $21.4 million in 2024 and negative $19.7 million in 2025. Our measure of owner earnings starts from operating cash flow, removes swings in working capital, and then deducts stock-based compensation ($6.8 million in 2025) and capital spending. We treated the $6.1 million spent in 2025 on purchased intellectual property licenses, plus $1.3 million on equipment and software, as ongoing costs of staying competitive. On that basis owner earnings were about negative $37.4 million in 2025 and negative $35.4 million in 2024. Per-share figures for both years are distorted by the change in share count around the 2025 offering and are not comparable. The first half of 2026 was mixed. Revenue was $59.0 million versus $33.6 million a year earlier, but operating cash flow was negative $20.7 million versus negative $10.5 million, so the business was still consuming cash faster than in the prior-year period. Why all three cases are worth $0 per share. Our approach values only earning power that is already secured or already proven and repeatable, and it does not subtract debt or add balance-sheet cash on top of a case value. Ambiq has no record of positive owner earnings, no disclosed contracts or backlog that we could tie to a path to positive cash generation, and its 2025 revenue fell. Revenue growth in 2026 is a fact, but growth alone does not show that the business can produce cash for owners, so we did not credit any future profit from it. The bear case adds a named risk visible in the filing: customer concentration, with the top ten end customers accounting for about 95.6% of 2025 net sales (96.7% in 2024) and the top five for 91%, so the loss of one large customer would hit revenue hard. The base and bull cases are also $0 because we cannot name and evidence a driver that turns the current losses into positive owner earnings. This is a statement about what can be documented today, not a claim that the company cannot succeed. The company raised $106.4 million from financing in 2025, which funds its losses, but we do not count that cash as value for a shareholder. Geography. Historically Ambiq's sales were heavily concentrated with end customers in Mainland China (50.0% of net sales in 2024), falling to 8.6% in 2025 as the company shifted focus elsewhere. By shipment destination in 2025, China accounted for $30.7 million and Taiwan for $25.8 million of revenue. What would make this wrong. If Ambiq's growth continues and its operating expenses stop rising with revenue, cash flow could turn positive and the shares would then be worth something; we would revisit the estimate once several quarters of positive owner earnings exist. Until then nothing documented supports a value. Margin-of-safety price. Because there is no demonstrated owner earnings stream, this approach supports no margin-of-safety price above zero today.
