Viatris sells off-patent branded medicines (Lipitor, Norvasc, Viagra, Lyrica, Creon, EpiPen, Yupelri) and a large book of generic and complex-generic drugs. It was formed in November 2020 from Mylan and Pfizer's Upjohn unit. Since then it has sold its biosimilars business (to Biocon Biologics, 2022) and its over-the-counter, women's health and active-ingredient businesses (2024). In 2026 it finished selling the Biocon stake for about $780 million in total and agreed to sell Tyrvaya to Harrow. Revenue fell from $17.9 billion in 2021 to $14.3 billion in 2025, mostly from those sales and from an FDA warning letter at its Indore, India plant that cost about $370 million of 2025 revenue. In the first half of 2026 revenue grew about 3% in constant currency, led by Greater China (up 17%) and new generic launches. Separately, a February 2026 fire and a May 2026 FDA inspection at its Nashik, India plant are expected to cost $100 to $150 million of revenue in the second half of 2026. We value Viatris on the cash its owners actually keep. We add back amortization of the intangible assets created by the merger, roughly $2.35 billion a year, and the 2025 goodwill write-down; these are bookkeeping charges, not cash. We do not treat Viatris's persistent outflows for litigation settlements, restructuring, divestiture costs and scrapped inventory as temporary. They have recurred every year since 2021 and are real costs of running this business. On that basis the business generates about $2.2 billion a year before paying its lenders, about $1.88 per share. That figure is drawn from 2023 to 2025, the years that best reflect the company as it now exists. The previous figures we published were built on a different measure of these costs and are not comparable. In the base case, 2026 is slightly weaker because of roughly $600 million of restructuring and transaction cash and the Nashik disruption. From 2027 the business holds its earning power roughly flat for a decade. That rests on a demonstrated record: about $1 billion a year of R&D has produced $450 to $550 million of new-product revenue annually, roughly offsetting price erosion on older products. Because the underlying brands are aging assets, we let earning power decline about 2% a year after year ten rather than treating it as permanent. The business is worth about $31.1 billion. Against roughly $10.5 billion of effective debt the shares are worth about $17.60. The debt figure is about $12.9 billion owed, less cash beyond operating needs, and less a credit for long-dated bonds carrying low fixed coupons. The bear case includes the kind of downturn this industry has actually had. One is the 2016 to 2018 collapse in US generic pricing that cut Mylan's and Teva's earnings. The other is China's volume-based procurement, which in 2019 to 2021 sharply cut prices on the same Lipitor and Norvasc franchises that now drive Greater China's roughly $2.7 billion of sales. It adds a continuation of the company's run of FDA actions at its Indian plants, with Indore's 2024 warning letter followed by Nashik in 2026. Pre-interest cash falls about 30% by 2029, recovers only partly, then shrinks about 3% a year. The business is worth about $20.4 billion and debt about $10.8 billion, leaving roughly $8.20 per share. Even here cash flow covers interest more than 2.5 times, so the 2027 and 2028 maturities of about $3.3 billion can be refinanced, at higher cost. In the bull case, Indore passes reinspection and its lost revenue returns, savings from the 2026 enterprise-wide restructuring hold, and China momentum continues. Pre-interest cash rises to about $2.5 billion and erodes only slowly after year ten. The business is worth about $37.9 billion, leaving about $23.40 per share. The margin-of-safety price is about $11. We are reasonably confident in the $2.2 billion level because six years of filings show it, but the company has never had a year without large one-time costs. The worst plausible outcome is a repeat of 2016-style generic deflation landing alongside another China pricing round and another plant shutdown. The debt is largely long-dated and fixed, so that would hurt badly but not break the company. If we are wrong about the launch engine offsetting erosion, or about the size of recurring special costs, the shares are worth closer to $8 to $12. At $11 the shares carry a $0.48 dividend. From that price, a move toward the base value within about three years implies roughly 20% a year, while the bear case implies a loss.

Sales geography
United States (North America approximately $3.4 billion in 2025), Europe (approximately $5.1 billion), China, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and emerging markets including Latin America, the Middle East and Africa.
Historical growth strategy
Large-scale mergers (Mylan with Meda, then the combination with Pfizer's Upjohn), followed by portfolio pruning through divestitures, a steady stream of generic and complex-generic launches, and small in-licensing, distribution and co-promotion deals.
Chart analysis
A chartist would see a long downtrend after the 2020 formation, followed by a multi-year range of roughly $9 to $13. The shares broke down sharply in 2025 after the Indore warning letter, then recovered strongly in 2026 into the mid-to-high teens. The key question now is whether the old range ceiling around $13 to $14 holds as support on any pullback.
