SPDR GOLD TRUST (GLD) stock intrinsic value fair value estimate & owner earnings analysis

SPDR Gold Trust (ticker GLD) is not an operating company. It is a passive trust, formed in 2004 under New York law, that holds physical gold bullion in vaults on behalf of shareholders. Each share represents a fractional, undivided interest in the gold the trust holds. The trust does not manufacture, sell, or operate anything; it does not generate revenue, earnings, or operating cash flow. Its only ongoing costs are the sponsor's fee and other trust expenses, which are paid by periodically selling a small amount of the gold it holds. As a result, the value of a share moves essentially one-for-one with the price of gold bullion, less the slow, steady drag of those expenses over time.
