Enova International runs an internet-based lending platform. Consumers borrow through CashNetUSA and NetCredit (37 U.S. states) and Simplic (Brazil); small businesses borrow through OnDeck and Headway Capital (49 states and Washington D.C.). A small money-transfer business sends money from the U.S. to Mexico, other Latin American countries and Asia. Revenue reached $3.15 billion in 2025, up from $1.21 billion in 2021. How we measured earnings. A lender's cash flow statement flatters its earnings: loan losses are a non-cash charge added back to operating cash flow, while the loans that must be re-made to keep the book the same size sit in investing. We therefore deducted the annual loan-loss charge ($1.31 billion in 2025) as the cost of keeping the loan book level, along with stock compensation and ordinary capital spending. We did not deduct growth in the loan book, and we credit none of it in the valuation. On this basis owner earnings per share were $6.05 in 2023, $13.09 in 2024 and $15.04 in 2025 (about 15% growth in 2025, helped by share buybacks that cut the diluted count from 37.7 million in 2021 to 26.8 million). Amortization of acquired intangibles is added back as a non-cash charge; we carry no growth on top of it. Anchor. We use the median of 2022 through 2025, about $10.06 per share. 2020 is excluded (pandemic-era loan-book shrinkage and a $164 million one-time bargain-purchase gain from the OnDeck acquisition) and 2021 is excluded because the loan-loss charge that year ($180 million) was unusually low for a book that grew sharply. The anchor sits below the last two years on purpose: two strong years are not yet a demonstrated new normal. Base case, $96 per share. Owner earnings stay flat at about $10.06 a share for ten years (year 1 growth assumed 0%, against 15% actually achieved in 2025, so we are assuming less than the trailing rate) and then fade in equal steps to zero over the following ten years. Why no growth: expansion of the loan book, new products such as Simplic in Brazil, and margin gains all depend on things that have not yet happened; buyback-driven per-share gains are not repeatable without the cash. Why twenty years of earnings at all: the same lending engine has produced positive owner earnings in every one of the ten years we measured, through a shrinking book in 2020 and a heavy-loss year in 2023. Bear case, $39 per share. Owner earnings drop back to the 2023 level, about $6.05 a share, for five years and then fade to zero over seven. The named pressures are in the filing. Enova carries about $4.5 billion of debt (5.5 times adjusted EBITDA, $341 million of interest in 2025), most of it securitization facilities that mature and must be renewed between 2026 and 2032, so funding costs or availability could squeeze a fast-growing, credit-sensitive book. Rate restrictions such as the 36% cap under the Military Lending Act and state-level rules show that regulation can cap pricing on these products. We do not credit the pending acquisition of Grasshopper Bancorp (agreed December 2025, subject to regulatory approvals) in any case. Bull case, $135 per share. Owner earnings hold at about $14.07 a share, the average of 2024 and 2025 actually achieved, for ten years and then fade to zero over ten. This requires only that the recent level is sustainable, not that it grows. What would make this wrong. Loan losses are the swing factor: the loan-loss charge rose from $612 million in 2022 to $1.31 billion in 2025 alongside a much larger book, and a credit downturn or tighter regulation would hit earnings directly, and heavy leverage magnifies it. Against that, owner earnings could prove closer to the recent $13 to $15 range than to our anchor. Margin-of-safety price. The margin-of-safety price is $52 per share, roughly 46% below the base value and somewhat above the bear value, a wide margin because this is a leveraged, regulation-exposed consumer lender whose earnings swung between $6 and $15 a share in recent years. Not reconciled: the loan-loss add-back in the cash flow statement is labelled change in fair value, and it may include some non-loss fair value effects; we treated it wholly as a maintenance cost.
