Avidbank Holdings is a Silicon Valley commercial bank lending to technology, life-science and other private businesses and taking their deposits. It went public in August 2025 at $23 a share, raising about $61 million. How we measured earnings. The 2025 reported result was a $19.6 million loss, but that came from a deliberate one-time balance-sheet cleanup: the bank sold $274.7 million of bonds at a $62.4 million loss, used the proceeds and IPO cash to repay short-term borrowings, and reinvested $205 million at about 4.6%. That loss is a sunk, non-cash item in operating cash flow, so our owner-earnings measure (operating cash flow less stock compensation and maintenance capital spending) was about $35.8 million in 2025 and $19.4 million in 2024. For a bank we did not adjust for working capital. Only two annual filings are available, so the level is a judgement rather than a long median: we set normal owner earnings at about $28 million, roughly the midpoint of the two years, or about $2.56 per share on the current ~10.8 million diluted shares. We chose the lower mid-point because 2025 cash flow was lifted by non-cash items (loan-loss provisions, stock compensation) that recur as real costs for a lender, and because the IPO increased the share count by about 40% relative to 2024. Growth. Net interest margin rose from 3.44% to 3.80%, loans grew 15% and deposits 16% in 2025, and the first half of 2026 net income of $16.7 million (versus $11.2 million a year earlier) shows the cleaned-up balance sheet earning more. But we credit little of this: the available record is short, and lending growth consumes capital. Trailing owner-earnings growth was very large only because of the share-count and one-time effects, so the base case assumes 3% a year, below any trailing figure. We left out margin expansion and further loan share gains. Base case, about $29 a share: owner earnings of about $2.56 growing 3% a year for ten years, then fading gradually to zero over the following decade as the deposit and lending relationships in evidence are assumed to be gradually replaced with no further named support. That is roughly 1.1 times the $25.66 book value per share at year-end 2025. Bear case, about $15 a share: credit quality is the named risk. Non-performing assets rose from 0.06% to 0.95% of assets in 2025 and non-performing loans from 0.07% to 1.14% of loans, with a loan book concentrated in venture-backed and technology borrowers. We assume owner earnings fall about 40% to $1.60 a share, with no growth, then fade. Bull case, about $42 a share: the first-half 2026 earnings pace (roughly $3.10 a share annualized) holds as the normal level and grows 6% a year, in line with the recent loan growth being retained for a decade, then fades. What would make this wrong: a larger credit loss cycle than the bear case, or a repeat of balance-sheet losses if rates move against the bond portfolio. The margin-of-safety price of $18 sits just above the bear value, reflecting a young public company with a short record and a rising level of problem loans.
