lululemon athletica designs and sells premium athletic and lifestyle apparel, sold through about 825 company-operated stores and its own e-commerce sites. In fiscal 2025 (year ended February 1, 2026) revenue was $11.1 billion: the Americas (mainly the United States and Canada) supplied $7.8 billion, China Mainland $1.8 billion and the rest of the world $1.5 billion. The company has no borrowings and held about $1.4 billion of cash at August 2, 2026. How we measure earnings. We value the cash the business generates for its owners: operating cash flow, with timing swings in inventory, payables and taxes removed, less stock-based pay (a real cost to shareholders), less the capital spending needed to keep the existing business running. On that basis owner earnings grew from $1.73 per share in fiscal 2016 to a peak of $12.98 in fiscal 2024, then fell to $10.94 in fiscal 2025. The company's one large acquisition, the $452.6 million purchase of the MIRROR home-fitness business in 2020, was written down by $407.9 million in fiscal 2022, and the business, renamed lululemon Studio, was wound down in fiscal 2023. Those write-offs were non-cash charges and are added back in the years they occurred, but the episode shows that acquisitions have destroyed value here. Why we do not start from the recent peak. The fiscal 2023-2024 results were earned before two changes that are still in force. First, higher US import tariffs from April 2025 and the end of the US duty-free "de minimis" exemption on August 29, 2025 matter a great deal here, because most US online orders ship from Canadian warehouses; the company estimates these cut fiscal 2025 gross profit by about $275 million before mitigation. Second, demand in the Americas has weakened and the decline is speeding up. Americas revenue fell 1% in fiscal 2025, with comparable sales down 3%. In the quarter ended August 2, 2026, Americas comparable sales fell 12% and total revenue fell 4%. Underlying profit is falling well below fiscal 2025. The second quarter's reported results include a one-time $134.5 million refund of tariffs struck down by the Supreme Court in February 2026; stripping it out, first-half operating profit fell by about 38%. We estimate fiscal 2026 owner earnings of roughly $940 million, about $8.30 per share, a steeper decline than fiscal 2025's 19% drop. That is the starting point for every case. Because revenue is falling, we treat all capital spending as the cost of maintaining the business. What we credit and what we leave out. The one growth engine we credit is store expansion, which the company has run steadily for a decade: 406 stores in January 2017 to 825 today, about 44 net new a year, paid for from its own cash and continued through 2020. Most openings are now outside North America. We credit it only modestly, because business abroad has also softened: last quarter, international comparable sales fell 6% and China Mainland revenue fell 2%, both in constant currency. We give no credit to a turnaround in the Americas, new product franchises, the new chief executive (Heidi O'Neill, starting September 2026), or management's plans to offset tariffs, because none of these has happened yet. Base case, $112.51 per share. Owner earnings of about $940 million this year and $950 million next year, then growing about 1% a year from international store openings to roughly $1.04 billion by year 10, with the Americas holding at its reduced level. Beyond year 10 we keep earnings level for another ten years, supported by a brand that has kept premium pricing and gross margins above 50% in every year of the past decade, and then fade them to zero over the following decade, because apparel brands do not last forever without renewal. Bear case, $61.91 per share. The Americas decline runs another year at about its current pace and China Mainland keeps slowing, so owner earnings fall to about $720 million by year 3 and stay there, with new stores only offsetting erosion in existing ones. Earnings then fade to zero over years 11 to 20 as the brand loses ground to newer premium competitors. With no borrowings, the company is not at financial risk even in this case. Bull case, $175.87 per share. The company's demonstrated pricing power absorbs most of the tariff cost, as its selective price increases began to do in 2025. More of the $216 million of struck-down tariffs it paid in 2025 is refunded. International stores keep opening at the historical pace, with comparable sales abroad turning positive again as they were in 2025, when China Mainland comparable sales rose 20%. Owner earnings reach about $1.5 billion by year 10, still below the fiscal 2024 peak. Earnings then hold level for twenty years before fading. All cash flows are discounted at 6% a year. We do not add the $1.4 billion of cash to these values; it is a cushion. The company also spends heavily on buybacks ($1.2 billion in fiscal 2025), which help owners only when shares are repurchased below their value. What would make this wrong. On the downside: if Americas comparable sales keep falling at double-digit rates beyond another year, or China Mainland turns sharply lower, the bear case becomes the median. China Mainland earned about $700 million of segment operating profit in fiscal 2025, a 40% margin, so a sharp fall there would weigh heavily. On the upside: if demand in the Americas stabilizes and prices hold after the tariff increases, the base case is too low. Tariff policy is unusually uncertain. Replacement tariffs were imposed right after the February 2026 ruling, and the law repealing the de minimis exemption outright takes full effect by July 1, 2027. Margin-of-safety price. This is a strong brand with no borrowings, but a fashion business whose core market is shrinking and whose leadership is changing. The margin-of-safety price is set with a wide margin, about 40% below the base case: $68 per share, only modestly above the bear case value.
