Innovative Aerosystems (formerly Innovative Solutions and Support) designs, builds and repairs cockpit avionics: flat-panel display systems, flight management systems, the ThrustSense autothrottle on Textron's King Air 260 and 360, air-data and standby instruments, and, through product lines bought from Honeywell, military display generators and flight control computers. Since 2023 it has changed from a $25-35 million niche display maker into a roll-up of mature avionics lines that larger suppliers no longer want to support. It bought Honeywell product lines in June 2023 ($35.9 million) and September 2024 ($14.2 million plus $4.2 million of assets). In fiscal 2026 it added Honeywell general-aviation radios, autopilots, multifunction displays and transponders (about $33 million paid in the nine months to June 2026). In July 2026 it bought Aydin Displays, which makes rugged military displays, for $24.5 million in cash, mostly borrowed. Aydin is expected to bring about $16 million of yearly sales. Sales rose from $34.8 million in fiscal 2023 to $84.3 million in fiscal 2025 and $70.9 million in the first nine months of fiscal 2026. Backlog was $82.9 million at June 30, 2026, up from $77.4 million at September 30, 2025. How we measure earnings. We start from operating cash flow and remove working-capital swings, share-based pay and the capital spending needed to keep the business at its current size. Spending that funded growth is not deducted. Intangible amortisation from the acquisitions is a non-cash charge and is added back. We do not treat the acquired lines as permanent, though: these are legacy products serving ageing fleets, and their decay is built into the forward paths below. On that basis the company earned $12.9 million in fiscal 2025 ($0.72 a share), against $7.6 million in 2024 and $6.8 million in 2023. Before interest the 2025 figure was $14.4 million. The nine months to June 2026 produced about $14 million before interest, which annualises to roughly $18.5 million with the new Honeywell lines included. Three consecutive quarters at that level, plus Aydin under contract, are why the starting point sits above fiscal 2025. Only the period since the 2023 transformation describes this business. Before that it was a different and much smaller company, whose sales fell from $44 million in 2014 to $13.9 million in 2018 and whose owner earnings were negative in 2018. Growth credited. The only growth credited is the step-up already bought and running: the fiscal 2026 Honeywell lines and Aydin. No further acquisitions are credited. The company has made one a year for three years, but each was large relative to its size and paid for with debt, so it is not a small, self-funded, repeatable process. Also left out are the new eVTOL flight-deck award, the C-130 upgrade pursuit and growth in commercial cockpit retrofits, because none is yet contracted at a size we can measure. Base case: business cash flow before interest of about $18.5 million a year for five years, carried by the $82.9 million backlog and the installed fleets the acquired lines serve. After that it declines 2% a year as legacy platforms retire, and then 3% a year beyond year ten. That makes the business worth about $234 million. Net debt after the Aydin purchase is about $68 million ($54.5 million of bank debt at June 30, 2026, less $10.7 million of cash, plus about $24.5 million drawn for Aydin). That leaves about $165 million, or $9.04 a share. Bear case: the industry's own record supplies the downturn. Business aviation deliveries and aftermarket spending fell by roughly 40-50% from 2008 to 2010, and this company's own sales fell by two-thirds from 2014 to 2018. The bear case also uses the concentration in the filings: five customers made up 57% of fiscal 2025 sales, and backlog contracts can largely be modified or cancelled. Cash flow falls from $16 million to $9 million in years three and four, recovers only to about $10.5 million and then erodes. The business is worth about $124 million, the debt about $68 million, leaving $3.07 a share. Even at the trough, cash flow covers roughly $4.5 million of interest about twice. The floating-rate facility matures in July 2030 and its margin rises with leverage, so a slump in 2028-2029 would force a refinancing in a weak year. Bull case: the acquired lines and the fiscal 2026 award wins convert backlog on schedule. Cash flow starts at $21 million, grows 4% a year for five years and then holds, which makes the business worth about $367 million. After the debt that is $16.33 a share. What changed since our previous estimate. The company has since closed the Honeywell general-aviation purchase and bought Aydin, and backlog has turned back up to $82.9 million. That lifts the earnings base. It also adds about $45 million of new borrowing and more legacy product that will wear out. The base value is slightly lower and the bear value somewhat higher than before. The previous figures were built on a different basis and are not directly comparable. Margin-of-safety price. How sure are we of the earnings level? Only moderately. There is one full year and three quarters at anything like today's scale, and much of it comes from products bought within the past 30 months. Margins have moved sharply: gross margin was 51.7% in the latest quarter against 35.6% a year earlier. The worst plausible outcome goes beyond the bear case. A large customer such as Textron or a defence prime could move a program elsewhere while an aviation slump coincides with the 2030 maturity. The lender could then force an equity raise at a low price. The assets are mostly inventory, licences and customer relationships, not hard property, so they would not protect shareholders much in a restructuring. The things we are most likely to be wrong about are how fast the legacy lines decay and whether the latest margins last. If the lines decay at 5% a year rather than 2%, and margins fall back to fiscal 2024 levels, the shares are worth roughly $4-5. The company pays no dividend, so any return must come from value catching up, and the price assumes a holding period of about three years. At $4.50 the whole company (shares plus net debt) would be valued at about $150 million, roughly eight years of today's pre-interest cash flow. At that price the bear path roughly holds value, and any recovery toward the base case implies well over 20% a year. Above that, the outcome depends too heavily on the acquisitions working out.

Sales geography
United States (majority, including U.S. Department of Defense and OEMs such as Textron in the Midwest), plus export sales to Canada, Europe, the Middle East, Asia including Japan, and foreign military sales customers
Historical growth strategy
Organic engineering of niche cockpit systems (flat-panel displays, standby instruments, the ThrustSense autothrottle) sold to OEMs and retrofit customers. Since 2023 the company has grown mainly through debt-funded acquisitions of legacy avionics product lines and licences from Honeywell, plus the 2026 purchase of Aydin Displays, consolidating mature platforms that larger suppliers are exiting.
Chart analysis
A chartist would describe a long base between roughly $6 and $9 from 2020 to 2024, followed by a decisive breakout in 2025 that took the shares to about $19 by December. The rally continued into 2026, with monthly closes between about $17 and $26, a spike toward roughly $31 at the 52-week high and a low near $8 a year earlier. Around $24-25 in October 2026, the stock trades well above its rising longer-term averages. That is a strong primary uptrend, but it is extended. The old breakout zone near $17-19 is the first major support, and failure there would suggest a deeper retracement toward the prior base.
