Business condition attached to the margin of safety Owner earnings (operating cash flow after working capital, stock compensation and maintenance capital spending) positive for several consecutive quarters.
AmpliTech Group makes radio-frequency and microwave components, including low noise amplifiers (LNA), low noise block converters (LNB) and 5G radio products, and since a 2025 asset acquisition also sells through its Spectrum division. Revenue rose from $9.5 million in 2024 to $25.2 million in 2025, with international sales of $14.5 million, up from $2.8 million, driven by one large 5G customer. Management says it has secured new purchase orders from that customer for 2026 but also states there is no assurance the orders continue and that losing the customer would materially hurt revenue. Despite the growth, the business has not produced positive owner earnings (operating cash flow less working-capital swings, stock compensation and maintenance capital spending) in any recent year on a consistent basis. We computed owner earnings per share of about -$0.07 in 2019, -$0.09 in 2020, -$0.52 in 2021, -$0.31 in 2023, -$0.69 in 2024 and -$0.34 in 2025. 2022 shows +$0.15, but that figure comes from restated working-capital lines and a large inventory build, so we do not treat it as a sustainable level. Operating cash flow was -$8.7 million in 2025 against a net loss of $7.0 million. In the first half of 2026 operating cash flow was -$8.7 million on revenue of $13.4 million, so the burn rate has not improved; on the same basis we estimate owner earnings of roughly -$0.4 to -$0.5 per share on an annualized basis. Stock compensation ($1.6 million in the first half of 2026) is treated as a real cost. Because nothing in the filings provides a signed contract, backlog or track record that shows the business turning cash-positive, we credit no positive future earnings in any case. Our cases therefore measure how much cash the business is likely to consume before it can stand on its own, and that cost falls on shareholders through dilution or new financing. Bull: the burn narrows within roughly one year, using the rights offering proceeds held in escrow at year-end ($6.7 million) and the 2026 orders already secured, for a value of about -$0.35 per share. Base: cash consumption of about $0.40 per share a year continues for roughly two years before the business reaches breakeven, for about -$0.80. Bear: the large 5G customer does not reorder at 2025 levels, and the burn continues for three or more years at recent rates, for about -$1.50. A negative value means our estimate is that the business's own cash flows do not cover what it consumes; it is not a claim that the shares are worthless, since balance-sheet cash ($5.0 million plus the escrowed rights offering proceeds at year-end 2025) and any future turnaround are not counted in our approach. What would make this wrong: a step change in margins from the Spectrum division and the 5G radio production line would need to appear in reported cash flow, and repeat orders from the large customer would need to continue. We did not credit either, because neither has yet shown up in operating cash flow. Management states that cash on hand and operations should fund the next twelve months. The latest annual report on file is for 2025, with a quarterly report through June 2026. We could not fully reconcile the working-capital signs for 2022 between filings, and our figures for that year are uncertain.
