Watts Water Technologies makes valves, backflow preventers, drains, boilers, water-quality systems and safety equipment such as emergency eyewash and hydration stations, and sells them in three regions: the Americas, Europe, and Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Africa. Management ties its repair and replacement business to general economic activity rather than to new building. New housing, office and retail construction is expected to be down, while light industrial work, including data centers, is growing and institutional work is steady. How we measure earnings. We count cash from operations, remove swings in receivables, inventories and payables, then subtract stock compensation and the capital spending needed to keep the plants running. Per share, this rose from $2.79 in 2016 to $11.82 in 2025 and fell in only one year, 2020, from $4.44 to $3.76 when sales dropped about 6%. Sales grew about 6% a year over the decade, but earnings grew much faster because margins widened: operating income reached 18.4% of sales in 2025 and gross margin about 49.5%, against about 46.7% in 2023, helped by price increases in all three regions. We do not assume that margin expansion repeats. 2025 was also lifted by tax timing: cash taxes paid fell to $74.4 million from $117.2 million in 2024, and deferred taxes added $38.5 million to operating cash flow after subtracting $14.7 million and $18.8 million in 2024 and 2023. Starting level. We set the normal level of cash before interest at about $10.60 per share, the average of 2024 ($9.16) and 2025 ($12.11). Earlier years describe a smaller business: the company spent $313.4 million on acquisitions in 2023, $96.3 million in 2024 and $257.1 million in 2025. Averaging two years also keeps the 2025 tax-timing benefit from being counted in full. Owner earnings per share grew about 35% in 2025 as reported, or about 21% even if the entire tax-timing benefit is removed. We assume 4% in the first year of the base case, below both figures. We have not raised the starting level for the first half of 2026, when net income rose 25% to $217.9 million on 20% higher sales of $1,440.4 million, because that is only two quarters and cash from operations was flat at $120.8 million as receivables and inventories absorbed cash. We could read the financial data for that quarter but not its narrative report. Base case: worth about $192 per share. Growth is credited at 4% a year for five years and 3% for the next five, below the roughly 6% sales growth of the past decade, which included the 2020 decline. The evidence is organic sales growth of 5.3% in 2025, price increases that have been taken in every region, and bolt-on acquisitions completed in each of the last three years. We credit no further margin expansion, no share gains, no data-center upside and no tariff relief. After year 10 we hold that year-10 level flat for another 20 years and then credit nothing, because repair-and-replace demand on an installed base supports the next two decades but we cannot point to evidence beyond that. Sales growth has historically tied up working capital, about 11 cents per dollar of added sales over the decade, so we deduct about $2.40 per share for it. The business is worth about $188 per share. It owes nothing net: about $137 million of net cash, or about $4 per share, remains after setting aside $100 million for operations. That is $348 million of cash at June 28, 2026, less $108 million of long-term debt and about $3 million of finance leases. The long-term debt was $197.7 million at the end of 2025 with its principal due in 2029, and it had fallen to $108.0 million by June 2026. Its interest cost is close to the long-run norm, so we make no adjustment. Business less net debt gives about $192. Bear case: worth about $97 per share. This assumes two consecutive years like 2020, when cash before interest fell about 17% on a 6% sales decline. That cuts the starting $10.60 by 31% to about $7.30 by year two. This is a deeper and longer downturn than 2020, which a construction or housing slump would produce. Recovery then runs at only 3% a year, reaching about $9.25 in year ten. The level then stays flat for ten years and ends. We assume the $137 million of net cash is spent on acquisitions that earn nothing, because the company reported a net loss of $112.9 million in 2015 while operating cash flow was positive $109.4 million, which shows it has taken large non-cash charges before. The business is worth about $97, it owes nothing net, and so the shares are worth about $97. Even in this case cash before interest stays well above the interest bill, and the first debt maturity is not until 2029. Bull case: worth about $250 per share. This starts at $12.50, about 2025's $12.11 plus a modest allowance for a full year of Haws, Superior Boiler and Saudi Cast, acquired in November 2025. Growth runs at 6% for three years, 5% for three and 4% for four, close to the decade's actual sales growth, and the level then holds for 20 years. After a deduction of about $3.50 for working capital, the business is worth about $246, with about $4 of net cash added, for about $250. What could prove this wrong. Some of the recent margin gain comes from price increases that could be given back if costs ease or competitors respond, and European volumes fell in 2025. Tariffs on goods from Canada, China and Mexico have raised product costs; on February 20, 2026, the Supreme Court invalidated the tariffs imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, which adds uncertainty about both costs and pricing. The company is defending asbestos lawsuits but says no judgments have been entered against it. The Horne family controls about 68% of the votes through Class B shares, so outside shareholders cannot influence capital allocation. Margin-of-safety price: $98. Our confidence in the earnings level is fairly high. Owner earnings have risen in nine of the last ten years and the business holds net cash, but we are less sure of the 2025 margins and tax benefit, which is why we start from a two-year average. The worst plausible outcome is a multi-year construction downturn together with a give-back of recent price gains and a large acquisition that disappoints. The business would survive that, with no debt due until 2029 and cash exceeding debt, although the family's control means outside shareholders could not stop a bad deal. If we are wrong about the durability of the margin gain, or if earnings do not persist beyond year 10 and fade sooner, the shares would be worth well under $190. The price assumes a holding period of about five years, with a $2.08 annual dividend ($0.52 per quarter) while the company keeps buying bolt-on businesses. From $98 the bear case implies roughly breaking even after five years and the base case implies roughly 20% a year. That is why the margin-of-safety price is $98 and not higher. The previous analysis used a different method, so its figures are not comparable.

Sales geography
Americas (United States, including the Northeast, Midwest, West and South, and Canada); Europe (mainly France, Germany and Italy); Asia-Pacific, the Middle East (including Saudi Arabia) and Africa.
Historical growth strategy
Steady bolt-on acquisitions of niche water, drainage, boiler and safety brands (I-CON, EasyWater, Haws, Superior Boiler and Saudi Cast in 2025 alone, after $313 million of acquisitions in 2023), combined with annual price increases, consolidation of manufacturing facilities, and new product development.
Chart analysis
A chartist would see a stock in a longer-term uptrend that is currently pulling back. The shares were about $348 at the close on October 7, 2026, up roughly 30% over the past 52 weeks, and still above the 200-day moving average (about $324). They have slipped below the 50-day moving average (about $363) after peaking near $392 in early August, so the move since then reads as a consolidation or shallow correction within the larger uptrend. The late-July low near $336 is the nearest support; a close below it and below the 200-day average would weaken the picture, while a move back above the 50-day average and then the August high would resume the uptrend. Momentum is neutral to mildly positive (RSI about 59) and the stock's volatility is slightly above the market's (beta about 1.1).
