Margin of safety$0.05 ComplexityHigh Updated
-$2.19 $1.81
bear -$2.19 base $0.10 bull $1.81 margin of safety $0.05 market price* $3.63
Business condition attached to the margin of safety At least two consecutive quarters of resumed double-digit year-over-year TriNav revenue growth, confirming the flat first-half-2026 print was temporary rather than a structural stall, together with continued narrowing (not widening) of cash used in operations versus the prior-year period.
TriSalus Life Sciences (Nasdaq: TLSI) makes TriNav, an FDA-cleared catheter system used by interventional radiologists to deliver cancer therapies directly into liver and pancreatic tumors while limiting the pressure-driven backflow that normally blunts drug delivery. Device sales carry an 84-86% gross margin and have grown quickly since the company began reporting as a standalone public business (2022 revenue of $12.4 million grew to $45.2 million in 2025). The company also owns nelitolimod, an immune-stimulating drug being tested for delivery through the same catheter; it remains in early (Phase 1/1b) trials with no approved product and no revenue, so we assign it no value in any of the three cases below - it is a real option on the business, but not yet an evidenced one. Despite the revenue growth, the company has not had a profitable year. Cash used in operations narrowed sharply and encouragingly from $50.6 million (2023) to $40.8 million (2024) to $18.0 million (2025), largely because fixed costs grew far more slowly than sales. However, the first half of 2026 shows revenue roughly flat versus the first half of 2025 and cash used in operations running higher year over year - a reversal of that trend that is not explained in any filing we can access. We have not simply extrapolated the encouraging 2023-2025 trend forward; the base case below assumes only modest, decelerating growth consistent with the softer 2026 signal, not a return to the prior pace, and we flag this stall plainly as something worth watching in the next filing. We valued the device business on its own operating cash flow (after adding back stock-based compensation and non-cash items, and after removing swings in working capital, growth-related capital spending, and cash interest paid on debt), discounted at a flat 6%, over an explicit 10-year window. The company carries a $33 million secured term loan (maturing April 2029) at a floating rate currently near 12.5%, well above our discount rate, so we added roughly $5 million to the debt figure to reflect that above-market cost; against $46 million of cash on hand (after a February 2026 stock offering), the business is presently in a small net-cash position. In the bear case, the growth stall persists, gross margin erodes further, and losses never turn to profit over the next decade - a realistic possibility given a loan covenant that requires TriSalus to begin repaying principal early if trailing device revenue falls short of set thresholds, and a minimum-cash covenant the company has already had to renegotiate once. Under that path, the business is worth meaningfully less than it owes, and the shares would be worth roughly negative $2.19 - in plain terms, the debt and ongoing cash losses would outweigh what the device business generates. In the base case, growth partially recovers at a modest, historically-grounded pace, losses keep narrowing, and the business reaches break-even around year four or five; value roughly offsets the net debt load, leaving shares worth only about $0.10 - essentially a coin flip between a viable, moderately profitable device business and continued value erosion. In the bull case, growth reaccelerates toward the pace shown in 2022-2025 and the demonstrated operating leverage continues, producing a device business worth meaningfully more than it owes, near $1.81 per share. Given how thin the base case is and how negative the bear case is, there is little margin of safety at almost any price today. The margin-of-safety price is near $0.05 per share, and a higher value would only be supported by at least two consecutive quarters of resumed double-digit revenue growth confirming the 2026 slowdown was temporary, alongside continued narrowing of cash losses.

Chart analysis
TLSI began trading August 11, 2023 following its SPAC merger with Medicus Sciences Acquisition Corp. Over the roughly 2.5 years through year-end 2025, shares ranged from a low of $3.60 to a high of $12.00 - more than a 3x spread - typical of a small, story-driven de-SPAC stock rather than a smooth trending name. A chartist would expect sharp, news- and financing-driven swings (the stock has seen a private placement and a follow-on equity offering in the past 18 months, both typically dilutive events that pressure price) rather than a stable technical trend, and would flag it as a high-beta small-cap where support/resistance levels are less reliable than in a larger, more established name.
