Rani Therapeutics (San Jose, California) is developing the RaniPill, a swallowable robotic capsule designed to deliver drugs that today must be injected. It has no approved product. Its two most advanced efforts are RT-114, an oral version of ProGen's GLP-1/GLP-2 obesity drug PG-102, which began a Phase 1 trial in Australia in December 2025, and an October 2025 collaboration with Chugai Pharmaceutical of Japan to pair a Chugai hemophilia compound with the RaniPill. Chugai paid $10.0 million up front and could pay up to $18.0 million for technology transfer ($10.0 million of it at Chugai's option), $57.0 million in development and regulatory milestones, $100.0 million in sales milestones and single-digit royalties. Chugai can end the agreement at will on 60 days' notice, and Rani's own accounts treat none of the milestones as probable. What the business has actually produced: after removing working-capital swings, charging stock compensation as the real cost it is, and deducting equipment spending, the business consumed $51.9 million of cash in 2021, $65.2 million in 2022, $70.4 million in 2023, $53.1 million in 2024 and $39.5 million in 2025, and $15.7 million in the first half of 2026 (about $31 million a year). It has never had a cash-generating year. Two accounting judgements matter: the $8.5 million build-up of unearned Chugai revenue in 2025 was treated as a timing swing rather than earnings, and because Rani is organised with two share classes (Class A plus Class B shares paired with units of the operating company), per-share figures are spread across both classes. Balance sheet: at June 30, 2026 Rani held $53.4 million of cash and marketable securities, plus a $2.0 million Japanese withholding-tax refund it expects to recover, about $55.4 million in all, and no borrowings (the Avenue term loan was repaid in December 2025). Economic shares were roughly 211 million (187.2 million Class A including pre-funded warrants, plus 24.0 million Class B); the count at period end is likely higher because $18.7 million of stock was issued in the first half of 2026, and about 125 million warrants exercisable at $0.48 from the October 2025 financing could add more. The prior-year audit report carried a going-concern warning; after the October 2025 private placement, management states its cash covers at least twelve months from March 2026. The shares fell below Nasdaq's $1 minimum in 2025 and regained compliance in November 2025. How we value it: we credit only income that is contracted or produced by a proven, repeating process. Nothing Rani earns yet meets that test, while its spending is well evidenced: five years of continuous losses and a filing that says losses will continue for the foreseeable future. So in every case the cash on hand is spent on development, and the shares are worth only what is left over. Base case: spending continues at the first-half-2026 pace of about $31.4 million a year. That is a 20% cut from 2025, smaller than the 26% cut achieved from 2024 to 2025 and supported by two quarters of actual 2026 results. No milestone is credited. The cash lasts until roughly spring 2028. The operations are worth about -$52.7 million in today's money against $55.4 million of net cash, leaving about $2.8 million, or $0.01 per share. Bear case: spending stays at the 2025 level of $39.5 million a year and Chugai uses its termination right. The cash is gone by late 2027, and the roughly $2 million left in present-value terms is absorbed by remaining office and lab lease payments (about $4.0 million still due). Value is $0.00 per share. Rani has no debt, so shareholders are not underwater, but any further funding would come from new shares. Bull case: Rani completes the sterile-manufacturing technology transfer and collects the full $18.0 million from Chugai by mid-2027, with spending at the 2026 pace. This stretches the runway to late 2028 and leaves about $3.8 million, or $0.02 per share. Left out of every case, because none is secured: success of RT-114 or the other RaniPill programs (ustekinumab and adalimumab biosimilar capsules among them), Chugai's development and sales milestones and royalties, Chugai's $5.0 million-per-target options, and any new partnership. Those are where the market value of the shares comes from; they are possibilities, not earnings. What would make this analysis wrong: a signed partnership whose contracted payments cover the spending, or a decision to stop spending. If spending stopped, the cash alone would be worth roughly $0.26 per share, but nothing in the filings points that way.

Chart analysis
Price history is not available in our data, so this is limited to what the company's filings disclose. The stock came public in August 2021 at $11.00 and then went through a long, persistent decline that took it below $1.00 by mid-2025: Nasdaq notified the company in June 2025 after 30 straight business days under $1. Financings were priced at $0.40 (July 2025) and $0.48 (October 2025). The shares then jumped back above $1.00 and closed there for 10 straight sessions from October 21 to November 3, 2025, around the Chugai deal and the private placement. A chartist would read the October 2025 move as a sharp reversal off a multi-year base, but would also point to heavy potential supply overhead from roughly 125 million warrants exercisable at $0.48 and pre-funded warrants that holders can convert at any time. We cannot judge the trend since November 2025 without price data.
