Business condition attached to the margin of safety Several consecutive quarters of filings showing consumable/service revenue growing with the installed base (not just an instrument sale here or there), and/or cash burn falling further without cuts to R&D or commercial headcount.
Quantum-Si makes benchtop instruments (the Platinum line, most recently the Platinum Pro, which began shipping in March 2025) that sequence individual protein molecules, plus the consumable reagent kits and service contracts that go with them. The long-term pitch is a 'razor and blade' model: place instruments with research labs, then earn recurring revenue as each lab buys more consumable kits over time. The business is still in the earliest stages of commercial life. Total revenue was just $2.4 million in fiscal 2025, down 20% from $3.1 million in 2024, and it fell further in the first half of 2026 versus the first half of 2025. That decline happened even after the Platinum Pro launch, which is the opposite of what the installed-base growth story would predict, and it is the single fact that most undercuts the bull case here. Management has said that longer capital sales cycles at U.S. research customers, tied in part to research budget pressure including cuts affecting the National Institutes of Health, have weighed on orders. Against that trivial and shrinking revenue base, the company spends roughly $90-115 million a year more than it takes in from operations. It has funded that gap with cash raised in its 2021 public listing, supplemented by ongoing sales of new shares (diluted share count has roughly tripled since 2021), and has twice cut costs through company-wide restructurings (in 2023 and again in late 2024). Management states plainly in its filings that it may never achieve profitability and expects to keep raising capital to fund operations. As of June 30, 2026, the company held about $170 million in cash and short-term investments. Because there is no track record of the recurring-revenue model actually showing up in the results - and recent evidence points the other way - none of the three cases below credit future revenue growth; that would be hope, not evidence. What can be credited is the demonstrated, completed cost discipline from the two restructurings, which measurably lowered the annual cash burn from its 2022 peak. The base case holds the burn at its recent (2023-2025) run rate of roughly $103 million a year, spread over the current share count, for the next ten years, since neither a specific reason for improvement nor for further deterioration is currently evidenced. The bear case assumes the small offsetting gross profit the company earns from its little revenue fades to nothing and there is no more room to cut costs beyond the two rounds already completed. The bull case credits a continuation of the same kind of cost discipline already demonstrated, gradually narrowing the loss over the ten-year period, without assuming any revenue turnaround. Putting a value on the operating business this way, and then adding back today's cash and investments, produces a negative figure per share in all three cases. In plain terms: if the current trajectory (heavy, unreplaced cash consumption with no demonstrated route to breakeven) continues for a decade, the losses still to come outweigh the cash sitting on the balance sheet today. That is not a statement about the company's ability to keep operating in the near term - it has enough cash for that - it is a statement that, under this analysis, no positive margin-of-safety price is supported today, because the value being consumed exceeds the value in hand. What would change this: sustained (several consecutive quarters, not one good print) growth in consumable and service revenue tied to a growing installed base of instruments, and/or a demonstrated further reduction in cash burn that does not come at the expense of the commercial and R&D effort. Either of those, seen in the actual filings rather than in guidance, would be grounds to revisit this analysis. One accounting note: cash flow was reconciled against each year's cash flow statement, including one-time items in 2025 (a legal settlement accrual and a related insurance receivable) that offset within the working-capital adjustment and do not affect the result.

Sales geography
United States (roughly 29% of fiscal 2025 revenue, domestic research institutions) and international customers (roughly 71% and the larger, growing share of a very small revenue base); the filings do not break out specific international countries or U.S. states/regions.

Chart analysis
A chartist would describe a pronounced, multi-year downtrend since the stock's 2021 SPAC-merger debut, in line with the broader collapse of 2021-era de-SPAC and genomics-tool names from their post-merger highs. The pattern is one of lower highs and lower lows, punctuated by sharp, short-lived volatility spikes around product-launch news and equity financing events rather than any sustained recovery or base-building.
