Envista sells dental products in two segments: Specialty Products & Technologies (64% of 2025 sales of $2.7 billion: NobelActive dental implants and regenerative products, and orthodontics including Damon brackets and Spark clear aligners) and Equipment & Consumables (36%: diagnostic imaging such as DEXIS, dental consumables and Orascoptic loupes). About 85% of sales are consumables, services and spare parts, which gives the business a recurring character, but implants, aligners and equipment depend on patients choosing elective dental work, and revenue was roughly flat from 2021 ($2.51 billion) through 2024 ($2.51 billion) before rising 8% to $2.72 billion in 2025. How we measured earning power. We start from cash from operations, then remove swings in working capital, subtract stock-based compensation as a real cost (about $38 million in 2025), and subtract only the part of capital spending needed to maintain the business (about $40 million in 2025). Large non-cash charges are correctly excluded, including $1.15 billion of goodwill and intangible write-downs in 2024 and roughly $76 million a year of amortization of acquired intangibles. Those write-downs show that past acquisitions were overpriced, so we carry no growth on the strength of acquired assets. Working-capital swings were large: accrued liabilities added $134.5 million to 2024 cash flow and $116.0 million to 2025, which we strip out, and a $133.0 million outflow depressed 2022. On this basis earning power per diluted share was $2.26 (2019), $0.84 (2020), $2.46 (2021), $1.81 (2022), $1.55 (2023), $0.99 (2024) and $1.12 (2025). We anchor on the median of 2020 through 2025, $1.33 per share. That window starts after the company's first partial year as a stand-alone public company and covers the 2020 shutdown trough, the 2021-22 rebound and the weaker 2024-25 years. The 2019 year is left out because it was a partial stand-alone year with an unrepresentative share count. Base case: $16.14 per share. Earning power improves from $1.12 in 2025 to about $1.26 in year one (in line with the 13% per-share increase achieved in 2025), reaches the $1.33 anchor in year two, and stays flat for ten years. After that we assume a slow 5% a year decline, because we can name the recurring consumables and installed base but not a source of new growth. We credit no market growth, share gains from Spark, or margin expansion: the segment's 6.3% core sales growth in 2025 and 10.5% sales growth in the first half of 2026 (from its latest quarterly report) are encouraging but are not secured, and only the return to a level already reached is counted. Bear case: $8.05 per share. Tariff costs the company says it has already experienced, and the 2028 refinancing of $492.5 million of 1.75% convertible notes at market rates, lower per-share earning power to about $0.73 (a trough-like $0.85, near the 2020 and 2024 lows of $0.84 and $0.99, less roughly $0.12 a share of extra interest if those notes are refinanced at about 6%), with a faster 8% annual decline after ten years. Total debt was $1,448.3 million at year-end 2025, so leverage makes this downside meaningful. Bull case: $24.08 per share. Earning power holds at about $1.80, the level actually reached in 2022 ($1.81), for ten years, with only a 3% annual decline afterwards, because the implant and aligner capacity the company has added is put to use and consumable demand stays steady. We did not assume anything above levels the business has already delivered. What would make this wrong: a further leg down in dental procedure volumes, aligner price competition, or additional acquisition write-offs would push results toward the bear case; a sustained return to 2021-22 earnings would move toward the bull case. The margin-of-safety price is about $6.50 per share, which is below our bear-case value and leaves a wide margin for a leveraged business with elective-demand exposure and a record of large write-downs.
