N-able sells software that IT service providers and IT and security teams use to run and protect computers and networks, across three areas: unified endpoint management, security operations (expanded by the November 2024 purchase of Adlumin) and data protection. It sells mainly through the channel - managed service providers, resellers and distributors - and grows as those partners add clients and their clients add devices. The company separated from SolarWinds in July 2021. Revenue has risen every year, from $263.5 million in 2019 to $508.8 million in 2025, and customers paying more than $50,000 a year rose 13.7% to 2,671 during 2025. Growth from existing customers has slowed, though: net revenue retention fell from 110% in 2023 to 103% in 2024 and 2025, which the company attributes to pricing and packaging changes and its push toward long-term contracts. In August 2026 the company amended its 2025 annual report after finding that revenue on certain subscription arrangements had been overstated. 2025 revenue was revised from $511.4 million to $508.8 million and the net loss from $17.0 million to $18.8 million. Operating cash flow ($93.2 million) was unchanged, so the effect on our figures is small. How we measure earnings. We start from operating cash flow, remove working-capital timing swings, and deduct stock-based pay (about $46.6 million in 2025, roughly 9% of revenue) and the capital spending needed to maintain the business, counting purchased and capitalized software alongside equipment. Amortization of acquired intangibles ($18.9 million in 2025) is added back as a sunk acquisition cost; the Adlumin deferred purchase payments that run through the income statement are treated the same way, and the unpaid balance is counted as debt instead. On this basis owner earnings were $20-34 million a year in 2022-2025 ($0.11-$0.18 a share). Because the company carries meaningful debt, we value the business before interest (adding back cash interest of $16-29 million a year) and then subtract what it owes. That pre-interest cash flow was $35.9 million, $55.4 million, $62.5 million and $45.8 million in 2022-2025; we use the median of those standalone years, about $50.6 million or $0.27 a share, as the normal level. Earlier years are excluded because the business was then a division of SolarWinds carrying allocated costs and debt, and 2021 was the separation year. Recent trend. Pre-interest cash flow fell 27% in 2025, the first full year of owning Adlumin, a year that also carried $3.3 million of one-time fees and higher spending on equipment and software. We do not assume that decline continues: in the first half of 2026 operating cash flow was flat at $44.0 million versus $43.9 million a year earlier, stock-based pay fell to $21.2 million from $24.6 million, and revenue rose 8.8% to $270.6 million. The base case therefore starts year 1 at about $47 million, 3% above 2025 rather than at the higher median. All cases are discounted at 6%. Base case: about $47 million in year 1, back to the roughly $50 million normal level by year 3, then growing 2% a year through year 10 - below the 3% a year that existing customers have added on net in 2024-2025 - to about $58 million. It holds there for ten more years on the strength of a recurring-subscription base that has kept net retention above 100%, then fades to zero over the following decade. The business is worth about $687 million; it owes about $380 million; the shareholders' share is about $307 million, or $1.62 a share. Bear case: retention slips below 100% as the pricing pressure that took it from 110% to 103% continues, and the technology bought with Adlumin ages. Cash flow starts at the 2025 level (about $46 million), falls 3% a year to about $35 million in year 10, then fades to zero over ten years. It still covers the roughly $26 million annual interest bill through the loan's 2032 maturity, but little is left: the business is worth about $373 million against about $380 million owed, so the company would owe roughly $6 million more than the business is worth and the shares are worth about nothing (about -$0.03 a share). Bull case: pre-interest cash flow returns to its 2024 level of about $0.33 a share by year 3 - a level the business has already reached, helped by the lower stock-based pay already visible in 2026 - then grows 4% a year, well below reported revenue growth of about 9-10% in 2024-2025 (which included the Adlumin acquisition), to about $82 million by year 10, holds for fifteen years, then fades over ten. The business is worth about $1.0 billion; less the $380 million owed leaves about $627 million, or $3.32 a share. Not credited in any case: winning new partners beyond the existing trend, cross-selling security into the installed base, new products, and margin expansion toward management targets - none is yet in hand. Debt. At June 30, 2026 the company owed $398 million on a term loan that was enlarged to $400 million and extended to November 26, 2032 in November 2025; it carried about 6.59% at the end of 2025, close enough to our 6% rate that we make no adjustment. It also owes a final Adlumin payment of $59.7 million plus $7.8 million tied to employee retention, due on the deal's second anniversary in November 2026. Against this it held $115.8 million of cash, of which we treat about $30 million as needed to run the business. Net, it owes about $380 million, or about $2.01 a share. The leverage covenant (first-lien net leverage no higher than 7.50 times) applies only to the $60 million revolving credit line. What would make this wrong: if the 2025 dip proves temporary and cash flow returns to the 2023-2024 level with growth nearer recent revenue growth, value moves toward the bull case; if retention keeps falling or the revenue restatement points to wider problems, the debt could leave shareholders with little. Margin-of-safety price. With the bear case near zero, debt that is large relative to cash flow, and a recent restatement, a wide margin of safety of about 50% below the base value is applied: $0.80 a share.

Chart analysis
A chartist would call this a stock in a prolonged downtrend. Over the past 52 weeks it has traded between about $2.92 and $8.74 and, at roughly $4.00 in late September 2026, sits more than 50% below the high and in the lower third of the range. Month-end closes of $3.67 (June), $4.68 (July) and $3.98 (August) show a July rally that failed to hold, leaving the shares moving sideways between roughly $3.65 and $4.70. There is no confirmed reversal yet: a chartist would want a sustained move above the ~$4.70 area before calling a bottom, and would watch ~$3.65 and then the ~$2.92 low as support.
