Meridian Corporation is the holding company for Meridian Bank, based in Malvern, Pennsylvania, with seven branches (Wayne, West Chester, Media, Doylestown, Blue Bell, Center City Philadelphia and Bonita Springs, Florida). It earns money three ways: interest on commercial and residential loans, mortgage banking (loans originated and sold), and wealth management and SBA lending fees. Mortgage volumes swing sharply with interest rates. What we measured. We built cash earnings per share from operating cash flow, then removed the swings that come from the timing of loans held for sale (originated, then sold), accrued interest and other balance-sheet items, and then subtracted stock compensation and the maintenance share of capital spending. On that basis per-share earnings were about $0.71 in 2018 and $0.90 in 2019, jumped to $2.22 in 2020 as mortgage banking boomed, and were $2.50, $2.25, $2.07, $2.57 and $2.87 in 2021 through 2025. We use the median of 2021-2025, about $28.9 million in total, because those five years include both the boom and the 2022-2023 slowdown. Earlier years describe a much smaller bank. Share counts before the 2-for-1 split are restated to match. The current diluted share count of about 12.2 million (June 2026 quarter) is used for the values below; it is higher than the 11.5 million average for 2025. The key judgement. Operating cash flow adds back the provision for credit losses because it is not cash, but the loans behind it really do go bad and have to be replaced. Net charge-offs were $0.1 million in 2021, $2.4 million in 2022, $5.6 million in 2023, $15.8 million in 2024 and $11.9 million in 2025 (0.55% of average loans), driven by small business and construction loans. We therefore deduct credit losses of about $7.2 million a year in the base case (the 2021-2025 average) so cash earnings are not overstated. That takes base earnings to about $1.78 per share. Base case, about $16.74 per share. Earnings stay flat at about $1.78 per share for ten years, then fade to zero over the following ten years. No growth is credited: the earnings history is uneven and there is no contracted or steadily repeated expansion to rely on. In 2025 earnings rose about 12% per share versus 2024; the base case assumes no growth from here, so it starts below that trailing rate. New branches, market share gains and any recovery in mortgage volume are left out because none is secured. Bear case, about $5.35 per share. Credit losses stay near the 2024 level ($15.8 million, 0.78% of loans) and mortgage banking sits at its 2023 level, leaving about $0.64 per share for ten years and then a five-year fade. Bull case, about $22.50 per share. Earnings stay at the 2025 level ($33.1 million) but credit losses return to about 0.30% of loans, the 2023 rate, roughly $6.5 million, giving about $2.19 per share for ten years and a fifteen-year fade, reflecting a deposit and wealth franchise that has been profitable every year in the record. What could make this wrong. If small-business and construction losses keep rising past 0.78% of loans, even the bear case is too high. If mortgage income recovers durably, or credit normalises faster, the value is higher. In the June 2026 half-year, operating cash flow was $1.9 million versus $6.1 million a year earlier while net income was $7.8 million versus $8.0 million, and one half-year does not move the earnings level. Cash flow lines for 2020 were restated between filings; we used the latest figures.
