M-tron Industries (NYSE American: MPTI) designs and makes precision frequency-control components (quartz crystals, oscillators), RF and microwave filters, amplifiers and integrated microwave assemblies. They go into military electronics, avionics, satellites and industrial equipment. Plants are in Orlando, Florida; Yankton, South Dakota; and Noida, India. In 2025, aerospace and defense was 65% of revenue, avionics 23%, industrial 8% and space 4%. Revenue has doubled since 2021 (from about $27 million to $54 million in 2025), and the order backlog was $76.4 million at the end of 2025, up 62% in a year, mostly to be filled during 2026 and 2027. How we measured earnings. We use the cash the business generates after stock-based pay and after the capital spending needed just to stay in business. On that basis the business earned about $7.2 million in 2024 and $8.7 million in 2025 (about $2.50 and $2.69 per share on the shares then outstanding). 2021 to 2023 are much lower: 2021 and 2022 were pre-spin or early-stage, and 2023 carried an unusually large $2.4 million stock-compensation charge and a lower margin. We therefore anchor on 2024 and 2025 together, about $8.0 million a year, the period that reflects today's scale and margins. Interest paid is negligible because the company has no borrowings, so this is also the cash produced before lenders. A balance sheet that changed. The company raised a large amount of cash in 2025 and 2026 through a warrant exercise ($22.3 million receivable at year-end 2025) and a subscription rights offering approved in March 2026. At June 30, 2026 it held $96.2 million of cash, no borrowings (its $10 million revolving line at Fifth Third Bank was undrawn) and about 4.35 million shares, up from 2.9 million a year earlier. We count $81 million of that cash as excess, keeping $15 million to run the business, and give it no credit for any future acquisitions, since none has been announced. Because the share count rose, we value the business in total dollars and divide by today's share count, rather than using past per-share figures. Base case: about $97 million for the business plus $81 million of excess cash, no debt, roughly $177 million or $40.89 per share. Trailing owner earnings grew about 20% in 2025 (from $7.2 million to $8.7 million). We assume $8.4 million in year one and $8.8 million in year two, which is below that trailing rate. What supports it: the $76.4 million backlog under signed contracts and purchase orders, and first-half 2026 revenue up 14.5% to $29.8 million. Nothing beyond the backlog window is credited as growth, so earnings then stay flat through year ten. After year ten we fade earnings by 8% a year, which reflects the long life of qualified defense and avionics designs (the company has made these parts for over 60 years) while not assuming any new program wins. We left out new product launches, share gains and margin expansion because none is contracted. Bull case: about $132 million for the business plus $81 million of cash, $48.99 per share. Backlog converts on schedule and the recent 14% growth in revenue carries through two years, lifting owner earnings to about $10.9 million, then flat, with a slower 5% annual fade after year ten. This uses only levers already visible in the order book and recent quarters. Bear case: about $38 million for the business plus $81 million of cash, $27.46 per share. Two customers made up 51% of 2025 revenue (36% and 15%). The filing states that backlog can be cancelled or deferred, and second-quarter 2026 operating margin slipped to about 11% (from about 14% a year earlier) as gross margin was already down from 46.2% to 44.4% on mix and tariff costs, and stock compensation ran at more than three times last year's pace in the first half of 2026. The bear case has owner earnings at $6.5 million for two years, then the loss of half of the largest customer's revenue (about $9.8 million) once the backlog is worked off in 2027, cutting earnings to about $3.2 million, with a 12% annual fade after year ten. In every case the company owes nothing to lenders, so the cash is roughly two-thirds of the bear value. What would make this wrong: a loss of the largest customer sooner or larger than assumed, sustained margin erosion from tariffs or pricing, or the cash being spent on acquisitions that earn less than it costs. The stock-compensation step-up and the extent to which backlog converts into 2027 revenue are the two items to watch in the next filings. We could not see the second-quarter 2026 filing text, only its reported figures, so the cash figure and share count come from those data and not from a review of management's stated plans for the proceeds.

Sales geography
United States (sales to aerospace, defense, avionics, space and industrial OEMs and their contract manufacturers; the filing gives no US regional split). International sales were 23.2% of 2025 revenue, derived mainly from contract-manufacturer customers in Asia with significant sales in Malaysia, plus a sales office in Hong Kong; nearly all sales are billed in US dollars.

Chart analysis
M-tron began trading on NYSE American in October 2022 after being spun off from LGL Group, so its chart is short, and a chartist would see a young small-cap. The one price fact in its filings is that the 30-day average price rose above $52 in October 2025, triggering the early exercise of warrants struck at $47.50, which points to a strong multi-quarter uptrend into late 2025. A chartist would call that a momentum stock that has probably run well past its earlier trading range. With the share count up sharply in 2026 after the warrant exercise and rights offering, volatility around prior breakout levels would be the thing to watch. Specific support and resistance levels cannot be drawn from the company's data.
