MapLight Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biotechnology company with no product revenue. Its lead candidate, ML-007C-MA, is in two Phase 2 trials: ZEPHYR in schizophrenia (300 participants targeted, topline results expected in the third quarter of 2026) and VISTA in Alzheimer's disease psychosis. A second candidate, ML-004, is also planned for Phase 2. The company completed its IPO in October 2025 and reported an accumulated deficit of $360.5 million at December 31, 2025. What the business earns today: nothing. Operating cash flow was -$138.1 million in 2025 and -$78.8 million in 2024, and -$96.0 million in the first half of 2026. After adding back the $36.0 million of stock compensation as a real cost and removing working capital swings, the 2025 loss on our basis was about $162 million, or roughly $19 per share on the smaller pre-IPO share count. There is no earnings history to anchor on, and no signed contract, approval, or revenue stream that we can point to as a source of future earnings. Because a drug that has not yet succeeded in a trial is not something the business has already done, we assign no value to the pipeline in any case. What remains is the cash. The company held $453.1 million of cash, cash equivalents and investments at December 31, 2025, and says this funds operations for at least twelve months from the date of the financial statements. Operating outflow in the first half of 2026 was $96.0 million, roughly $190 million a year, with about 45.4 million shares outstanding at June 30, 2026. Unspent cash is roughly $7.9 per share after the first half's outflow, and it is being spent. Bear case, $0 per share: the trials keep running at about $190 million a year, results do not lead to anything we can evidence, and the cash is largely used up in about two years, leaving nothing for shareholders. Base case, $3.5 per share: the Phase 2 programs run through their readouts over roughly the next year at the current spending pace and produce nothing we can credit; the remaining cash of about $167 million, roughly $3.7 per share, is what is left, less some costs of winding down. Bull case, $6.0 per share: spending is cut back soon after the ZEPHYR readout in the third quarter of 2026, so most of the roughly $7.9 per share of cash is preserved. What would make this wrong: a successful trial result would be worth far more than these values, but we do not credit it because it has not happened. The estimate of cash is from filings through June 30, 2026 and does not include any capital raised since; a new share sale would add cash but also dilute existing holders. The 2025 and 2024 per-share loss figures use pre-IPO share counts and should not be compared with later years.
