Spectral AI is developing the DeepView System, a multispectral camera paired with artificial-intelligence software that predicts on the first day whether areas of a burn wound will heal on their own or need surgery. It has not yet sold or licensed a product. All of its revenue is research and development work paid for by U.S. government agencies, almost entirely the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA). The device received United Kingdom marking for burns in February 2024 and the company submitted a De Novo application to the U.S. FDA in June 2025; its 2025 annual report said it hoped for FDA authorization in 2026, but authorization had not been granted as of that report. How the business has actually performed: the government contracts reimburse development work at about a 45% gross margin, which does not cover public-company and other overhead. Revenue fell from $29.6 million in 2024 to $19.7 million in 2025 as the current BARDA contract reached the end of its base phase, and first-half 2026 revenue was $7.5 million against $11.8 million a year earlier. Measured as the cash owners could take out (operating cash flow, with working-capital swings removed and stock-based pay charged as a real cost; the company spent nothing on equipment), the business lost about $3.0 million in 2022, $16.8 million in 2023 (a year inflated by one-time costs of going public through a merger with a blank-check company), $8.9 million in 2024 and $9.5 million in 2025, so losses widened about 7% last year. Reported 2025 net loss was smaller, $7.6 million, only because of a $3.2 million non-cash gain on the value of warrants; we ignore that gain. In the first half of 2026 operating cash outflow was $7.8 million, a faster pace than 2025. There is no year of positive cash earnings to anchor on, so each case is built from the losses the business is evidenced to incur and the funding already in place. The September 2023 BARDA contract is worth up to $150 million, but only $54.9 million has been committed; the remaining roughly $95 million consists of options, including procurement and deployment of DeepView units, that BARDA has not exercised. In March 2026 BARDA advanced $31.7 million of work under that contract, and the company committed to fund $9.7 million of the associated development cost itself. Commercial sales after an FDA decision, BARDA exercising its procurement options, and new wound indications are all plausible but none is signed or demonstrated, so none is credited with value in any case. What the company owes: at June 30, 2026 it held $14.0 million of cash against $14.9 million of borrowings, most of it a loan from Avenue Capital that matures on March 1, 2028. Interest expense was $0.8 million in the first half of 2026, far above a 6% rate, and we add about $1.0 million to the debt for that extra cost over the loan's remaining life, for about $15.9 million owed. Warrant obligations carried at $11.8 million will be settled in shares rather than cash, so they are treated as future dilution rather than debt. Shareholders' equity on the balance sheet was already negative $12.1 million. Base case: operating losses before interest continue for two more years at about $10.2 million a year (2025's level widened by last year's 7% deterioration) while the company completes the accelerated BARDA work and services the Avenue loan, and then stop, with no value credited for anything afterward. The business is worth about negative $18.7 million, it has $14.0 million of cash and owes about $15.9 million, leaving about negative $20.6 million, or -$0.64 per share. In plain terms, on the evidence available the company appears to owe more than the business is worth, by roughly $20 million. Bear case: losses run at the first-half 2026 pace, about $12.5 million a year before interest, for two and a half years through the loan maturity. The business is worth about negative $28.2 million; with $14.0 million of cash and $15.9 million owed, shareholders are about $30.1 million in the hole, or -$0.93 per share. In practice that shortfall would be met by further share issuance at whatever price is available; the company raised equity at $1.30 a share in March 2025 and $1.90 in October 2025, each time adding warrants. Bull case: FDA authorization and the BARDA work let losses run at 2025's $9.5 million level for only one more year before the company stops burning cash, still with no profit credited because no sales have been made. The business is worth about negative $9.0 million; after $14.0 million of cash and $15.9 million owed, the result is about negative $10.9 million, or -$0.34 per share. The second tranche of the Avenue loan, $6.5 million, depends on FDA clearance and a $7 million equity raise, so even the good outcome brings more debt or dilution. Because every case is below zero, there is no price at which the shares look cheap on today's evidence. What would make this analysis wrong is the company actually selling DeepView systems or software licenses at a profit, or BARDA exercising its procurement options; once either shows up in reported results, the business could be valued on earnings it has actually produced.

Sales geography
United States only: all revenue comes from U.S. federal government research and development contracts, chiefly the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), plus other U.S. governmental authorities. No product sales in any country yet; the device holds United Kingdom (UKCA) marking for burns but has produced no United Kingdom revenue.

Chart analysis
A chartist would call this a low-priced stock stuck in a range rather than trending. It closed at $1.59 on September 25, 2026, in the lower half of a 52-week range of $1.18 to $2.97, well below that high. Over the summer it peaked near $1.87 in early July, slid to about $1.50 by late July, then moved sideways in roughly a $1.55-$1.75 band through August. With no higher highs since July and the price sitting closer to the yearly low than the high, the chart shows no established uptrend; a chartist would want a sustained move back above the early-July high before calling a turn, and would treat the 52-week low as the key support.
