Hyperfine, Inc. (HYPR) stock intrinsic value fair value estimate & owner earnings analysis

Margin of safety$0.00 ComplexityAverage Updated
Hyperfine makes the Swoop system, a portable, ultra-low-field MRI scanner for brain imaging that can be brought to the patient's bedside, sold with its Optive AI image-reconstruction software. The FDA cleared the next-generation Swoop scanner in late May 2025, and India's regulator approved the first-generation system in December 2025. The company held 197 issued patents as of February 15, 2026. What the business earns. Hyperfine has never produced cash for its owners. We measure owner earnings as operating cash flow with working-capital swings removed, stock compensation treated as a real cost (the cash flow statement adds it back, so we subtract it), and the capital spending needed to maintain the business deducted. On that basis the business consumed $72.3M in 2022, $43.4M in 2023, $39.8M in 2024 and $36.3M in 2025, on revenue of $6.8M, $11.0M, $12.9M and $13.6M. In 2025 gross profit was $6.8M against operating expenses of $43.8M, so sales would have to rise many times over before the business paid for itself. We take the median of 2023 to 2025 (after the peak-spending year of 2022, and all as a public company), a cash drain of about $39.8M a year, as the starting point. The loss narrowed by 8.7% in 2025, helped by a January 2025 restructuring that cut about 14% of the workforce, and the base case assumes it keeps narrowing at no more than that pace. The first half of 2026 was better: revenue of $7.8M versus $4.8M a year earlier, operating expenses of $21.0M versus $22.7M, and a net loss of $17.9M versus $18.6M. That is encouraging, but it is one half-year and the business is still losing roughly $17M every six months. Balance sheet. At June 30, 2026 Hyperfine held $43.5M of cash and about 99.8M diluted shares. In March 2026 it borrowed $15.0M under a senior secured term loan from Horizon Technology Finance of up to $40.0M; the remaining $25.0M can be drawn before December 31, 2027 only if conditions are met. The loan pays prime plus 4.25% with a 6.5% prime floor, so at least 10.75%, is interest-only for 48 months and then repaid in 12 monthly installments to maturity on March 18, 2031. Because that rate is well above our 6% discount rate, we count the loan at about $17.7M. The company also sold 16.1M shares at $1.25 in October 2025 for $20.1M gross, and says it expects to keep funding itself through share sales and borrowing until revenue is sufficient. The cases. Nothing in the filings shows a path to positive cash flow that is already contracted or proven, so no case credits future growth in sales or margins. Adoption of the new scanner, international expansion and a larger installed base may come, but they have not yet happened. Each case therefore values only what the business can do with the money it has. Bear case: the loss stops narrowing and stays near the $39.8M median, and the cash lasts about 14 months. Base case: the loss narrows at the 2025 pace of 8.7% a year, and the cash lasts about 15 months. Bull case: the first-half 2026 improvement continues and the loss narrows faster, but it still does not reach break-even before the cash is spent. In every case the business uses essentially all $43.5M of cash, worth about -$42M in today's money, while the loan remains owed. After cash and debt the business is worth about -$16M, or about -$0.16 per share, in all three cases: on current evidence the company appears to owe roughly $16M more than the business is worth. The cases land in the same place because the differences between them change only how quickly the cash is spent, not whether it is. What would make this wrong. The value to today's shareholders depends on Hyperfine turning its technology into a self-funding business before it needs large amounts of new capital. If the next-generation Swoop and Optive AI drive sustained sales growth until gross profit covers operating costs, the shares could be worth far more; if that growth is funded by selling shares at low prices, current holders will be heavily diluted. The stock has twice fallen below Nasdaq's $1.00 minimum bid price, with notices in May 2024 and April 2025, and regained compliance both times. Margin-of-safety price. With every case below zero, no margin-of-safety price is supported on today's evidence.

Chart analysis
The shares have been in a clear downtrend through 2026: about $1.41 in early June, $1.34 at the start of July, $0.90 by mid-August and around $0.80 in mid-September, near the bottom of a 52-week range of roughly $0.78 to $2.22. A chartist would note the stock now trades below the $1.25 price of the October 2025 share offering and the $1.20 exercise price of the lender's warrants, levels likely to act as overhead resistance, and below the $1.00 mark that has twice before triggered Nasdaq minimum-price notices. Until the price reclaims the $1.00 to $1.25 zone, a chartist would treat the trend as down.
