Flowserve makes and services pumps, valves and mechanical seals for oil and gas, chemicals, power generation and general industry, through the Flowserve Pump Division and the Flow Control Division. About 53% of 2025 sales were aftermarket parts and service on equipment already installed, which is steadier than new-equipment orders; the rest depends on customer capital spending, which is cyclical. About 63% of sales are to customers outside the United States. Backlog at the end of 2025 was $2.87 billion, up 2.8% on the year. How we measured earnings. We start with operating cash flow, remove the swings from working capital (receivables, inventory, payables, contract balances), subtract stock compensation as a real cost, and subtract only the capital spending needed to keep the plants running. We then add back cash interest to get the cash the business produces before its lenders are paid, value that, and subtract net debt. That business cash flow was roughly $306M in 2019, $190M in 2020, $222M in 2021, $90M in 2022 (a year with a $137M deferred-tax outflow and heavy working-capital build), $258M in 2023, $400M in 2024 and $485M in 2025 as reported. Two one-time items sit inside the reported 2025 figure: a $266.0M payment received when the planned merger with Chart Industries was terminated, and a $199.0M cash payment to sell all of Flowserve's legacy asbestos liabilities (completed December 11, 2025). We net both out (a net reduction of $67M before tax; the tax effects are not separately disclosed, so we did not adjust for them), which gives about $418M for 2025, up 4.3% on 2024's $400M. We took no credit for the legal costs the asbestos sale removes. The level we use. We take the median of 2019 to 2025, $257.5M a year (about $2.00 per share on 128.4M shares). That window includes the pre-COVID year, the 2020 to 2022 downturn and supply-chain squeeze, and the recovery, on consistent accounting. It is deliberately below the last two years ($400M and $418M) because those are two years after a margin recovery, 2025 operating income fell to $400M from $462M (8.5% versus 10.1% of sales) even though sales rose to $4.73B, and first-half 2026 sales were down about 4% ($2.24B versus $2.33B) with operating cash flow of $86M against $104M. Growth check: actual 2025 growth, on the adjusted basis, was 4.3%; the base case assumes 2% in year one, which is lower. Base case: $5.23B business value. Cash flow grows 2% a year for ten years, below the 3.1% annual revenue growth of 2019 to 2025 and in line with the 1.9% of 2016 to 2025, which includes two downturns. After year ten we hold it flat, because an installed base of pumps, valves and seals keeps needing maintenance and replacement, but we credit no further growth. We add $12.6M a year from the Trillium valves business bought at the end of June 2026 for about $490M in cash: about $200M of stated revenue at Flowserve's own median cash margin of 6.3%. Left out: management's margin-expansion programme and the high-teens EBITDA margin it targets for Trillium, share gains and new products, because none of these has yet shown up in the filings. Net debt is $1.50B (below), leaving $3.73B for shareholders, or $29.02 per share. Bear case: $3.50B business value, $1.50B net debt, $2.00B for shareholders, or $15.57 per share. Cash flow drops back to the 2020 to 2022 average of $167M for three years, then settles at $218M, the 2016 to 2021 median, meaning the recent margin gains reverse. No Trillium contribution is counted. The business still covers its debt costs (interest paid was $75M in 2025), and no bond matures before October 2030. Bull case: $8.92B business value, $1.50B net debt, $7.41B for shareholders, or $57.77 per share. The 2024 to 2025 level of about $409M is sustained and grows 3% a year for ten years (the 2019 to 2025 revenue growth rate), then holds flat; Trillium is credited at the 8.8% cash margin of 2024 and 2025 ($17.6M). The $2.87B backlog supports this near-term level. Debt. Borrowings were $2,135M at June 30, 2026, up from $1,575M at year-end, mainly to fund Trillium. Two $500M fixed-rate notes cost 3.5% (due October 1, 2030) and 2.8% (due January 15, 2032), well under 6%; the present value of that saving, $119M, reduces the debt figure to $2,016M. The rest is floating (the term loan was at 5.15% at year-end) and is taken at face value. We add $68M for outside owners' share of subsidiaries and subtract excess cash of $581M ($731M less $150M kept for operations). Net debt is $1,503M in every case. What has changed since our August 2026 analysis ($3.04, $18.01, $31.18). Values are higher mainly because we now apply a uniform 6% required return rather than the 10% to 11% used before and treat interest and debt separately; the outlook itself is not better. Our earnings anchor is more conservative than before: $257.5M before interest is roughly $180M after about $75M of interest, versus $280M after interest previously. New since then: the Trillium acquisition closed and the asbestos liabilities were sold. What would make this wrong. Weaker energy and chemical spending or tariff pressure would push results toward the bear case; the 2025 margin decline and softer first-half 2026 sales show that risk is live. The Trillium earnings rest on company statements that we could not verify from the filings. On the other side, our base case gives no credit for Flowserve's own record-level 2024 to 2025 cash flow, which the bull case shows would be worth much more if sustained.

Chart analysis
The company's own five-year total-return table (dividends reinvested, $100 invested at the end of 2020) shows the shares at $84.90 after 2021 and $87.51 after 2022, so a two-year base below the starting level, followed by a breakout to $120.16 in 2023, $170.49 in 2024 and $208.76 in 2025. A chartist would read that as a completed basing pattern followed by a strong, persistent uptrend of successively higher year-end levels, ending 2025 ahead of both the S&P 500 ($195.97) and the S&P 500 Industrials ($189.03) on the same basis, which is relative strength. The trend is intact but extended after a near-doubling in three years, so a pullback toward the 2023 breakout area would be the normal place to look for support.
