DoubleVerify makes software that verifies and measures the quality of digital advertising: confirming an ad was seen by a real person, in a brand-safe environment, rather than a bot or a low-quality placement, and helping advertisers steer their spending toward better inventory. The software is embedded directly into the major ad-buying platforms and, increasingly, into publishers and retail media networks, which makes it sticky: 99% of the company's 75 largest customers stayed in 2025. Growth has been real but is clearly slowing. Revenue grew 14% in 2025 to $748 million, on a 15% increase in the number of ad transactions measured. But the fee earned per transaction has been drifting down (roughly 3% lower in 2025, excluding one large customer's introductory pricing deal), and the cleanest gauge of how much more existing customers spend each year has fallen for three straight years: 124% in 2023, 112% in 2024, and 109% in 2025. In the first half of 2026, total revenue growth slowed further, to under 6% year over year. Every case below is built around this slower trajectory rather than the faster growth of 2021-2023. The company carries no debt and holds roughly $259 million of cash. Since mid-2024 its board has authorized $650 million of share buybacks, of which more than half had already been executed by early 2026, meaningfully shrinking the number of shares outstanding and adding to per-share value on top of the operating business. Bear case: retention keeps compressing toward 100% (existing customers spending no more than the year before) and per-transaction pricing keeps eroding, offsetting further volume growth, so revenue is roughly flat to modestly lower for several years before settling at a lower level. We also note that two advertising-platform partners collect close to 24% and 12% of total revenue on customers' behalf; a change in either relationship would matter more than a typical customer loss because of that concentration in how revenue reaches the company. Base case: transaction-volume growth continues at a slower pace than in recent years, retention stabilizes rather than keeps falling, and the buyback program continues near its recent pace. Earnings per share grow at a high-single-digit rate over the next few years, tapering further out, with the durable part of the business, being an accredited, deeply embedded measurement layer that large advertisers rely on, continuing at that lower, steady rate indefinitely. Bull case: the 2025 pace of transaction-volume growth (15%) continues for longer and per-transaction pricing stabilizes instead of eroding, while the buyback program keeps compounding per-share value at its recent pace. On these assumptions we estimate the shares are worth somewhere between $8 and $17, with a base-case estimate near $13 per share, after adding the company's net cash. Two accounting judgments matter here: we count employee stock-based compensation, which has grown to about 14% of revenue, as a real cost to shareholders even though it isn't a cash expense, since it steadily increases the share count; and we treated the unusually large 2022 capital spending, which the company attributed to building out a new global headquarters, as a one-time facility cost rather than an ongoing cost of the business. Revenue growth and customer retention stabilizing near their current, slower levels for a couple more quarters, rather than continuing to decelerate, would make the base case increasingly likely relative to the bear case.

Chart analysis
DV listed in April 2021 near the top of the 2020-2021 high-growth software boom and has been in a broad, choppy downtrend ever since, a pattern typical of a richly-priced growth IPO that has repeatedly disappointed on the growth side of its story. The chart shows several sharp, single-day earnings-driven gap-downs (consistent with the net-revenue-retention and growth deceleration described above) rather than a smooth grind lower, punctuated by shorter relief rallies that have so far failed to reclaim prior highs, i.e., a series of lower highs and lower lows. A chartist would note the stock now trades far below its IPO price, that momentum indicators have spent extended stretches in oversold territory around each growth scare, and that the multi-year low would be the key support level to watch; a sustained move above the most recent lower-high would be the first technical sign of the downtrend actually breaking.
