Business condition attached to the margin of safety FDA approval of Viaskin Peanut and a launch that shows positive operating cash flow, with funding beyond Q2 2027 secured without heavy dilution.
DBV Technologies is a clinical-stage biotech developing Viaskin Peanut, a skin patch for peanut allergy. It has no product revenue. Operating cash flow has been negative every year: about $(56)M in 2022, $(80)M in 2023, $(104)M in 2024 and $(121)M in 2025. After stock compensation and capex, that is a loss of roughly $0.8 to $1.1 per share each year. The company has never produced owner earnings, so there is no earnings base to value. Cash was $194M at the end of 2025, plus about $94M from warrants exercised afterward. Management says this funds operations into the second quarter of 2027. The auditor-style doubt about continuing operations raised previously was lifted in the 2025 annual report, but the runway is roughly one year, so further financing is likely and would dilute holders. Bear case (about $0 per share): the patch is not approved, or approval is delayed. Cash is spent on trials and launch preparation, and little remains for shareholders after wind-down. Base case (about $0.50): we credit only what has already happened, namely cash on hand, less continued burn. Positive Phase 3 results in children aged 4 to 7 are reported, and a BLA submission was planned for the first half of 2026. However, approval, launch and future profits have not happened, so they add no value here. Bull case (about $1.50): the submission goes on schedule and the company keeps more of its cash while funding the launch. Even then we cannot point to contracted revenue or earnings, so the value stays modest. The real upside, if the patch is approved and sells well, is not credited because it is not yet secured. What would make this wrong: FDA approval and a strong launch would be worth far more than we show. Against that, the company is spending over $100M a year and will probably need to raise money again. We could not separate working-capital changes from cash flow in the filings, which is immaterial at this scale.
