DoorDash operates the largest local-commerce delivery marketplace serving the United States, connecting consumers, restaurants and other merchants, and independent delivery workers ("Dashers"). About 84% of 2025 revenue was earned in the United States; the rest came from international markets served through Wolt (acquired 2022; strongest in the Nordic and Baltic countries and continental Europe) and, since October 2, 2025, Deliveroo (United Kingdom, other European markets, the Middle East, and parts of Asia-Pacific), plus a smaller restaurant-technology business, SevenRooms, acquired in June 2025. Revenue comes from commissions on orders, consumer delivery and service fees, advertising sold to merchants, and subscription fees (DashPass, Wolt+, Deliveroo Plus). The business has moved from consistent losses to real, growing profitability. The cash the business generates after real running costs (including the fair cost of employee stock compensation, and the ongoing capital spending needed just to keep the existing business running, as distinct from spending to grow it) was negative every year from 2020 through 2023, turned solidly positive in 2024, and more than doubled again in 2025 as order volume growth (up 27% for the year) increasingly dropped to the bottom line rather than being spent on growth. Because this improvement has been sharp and recent, we anchor our valuation on the average of the last two full years (2024 and 2025) rather than on the single best year, and treat the recent acceleration as something that has to be earned again in future years rather than something we assume simply continues. Bear case - $36.85 per share. The independent-contractor model that lets DoorDash and its international brands pay delivery workers without providing full employee benefits faces real, ongoing challenge. In the United States, Dasher classification is contested in multiple pending lawsuits and arbitration proceedings. In the European Union, a directive that took effect in December 2024 requires member states to write new national rules on platform-worker classification, which could push Wolt and Deliveroo toward treating couriers as employees in some countries, raising costs structurally. Layered on top, the company's own first-half 2026 results already show net income falling year over year even as revenue grew, while total depreciation and amortization expense increased more than 80% - consistent with the roughly $1.5 billion of intangible assets recorded on the Deliveroo acquisition alone (plus additional intangibles from SevenRooms) beginning to amortize only in the second half of 2025 - a sign that folding in these two acquisitions may prove more costly and slower to pay off than hoped. In this case, profit growth stalls for several years before resuming only slowly, with the established U.S. business carrying the company. Base case - $88.10 per share. Order growth continues at a healthy but gradually slowing pace (revenue growth has eased from 35% in 2022 to 24% in 2024, and, once the three months of newly-consolidated Deliveroo revenue are set aside, ran at a similar underlying rate of roughly 25% in 2025; we assume it keeps decelerating from here), the recently closed Deliveroo and SevenRooms acquisitions contribute revenue in line with their historical, largely breakeven financial profile without assuming further margin gains from them, and DoorDash's own profit margin is held at its current, already-achieved level rather than assumed to keep expanding at the recent pace, since that expansion has not yet been tested through a weaker economic period. Bull case - $125.19 per share. DoorDash successfully repeats the playbook it used with Wolt - a previously loss-making international acquisition that reached healthy profitability within a few years of being folded in - with Deliveroo and SevenRooms, order growth holds up better than the base case assumes, and the advertising business (which the company already cites as a driver of 2025 revenue growth outpacing order volume) continues to scale as a higher-margin revenue stream. In all three cases, we did not assume the business keeps compounding forever: beyond ten years we simply hold each case's tenth-year earning power flat, crediting no further growth beyond what the already-demonstrated business can be expected to keep doing. A few accounting judgments worth noting: stock-based compensation, while a non-cash expense, is a real cost to shareholders and was subtracted in full from cash flow in arriving at the figures above. Amortization of the substantial intangible assets recorded in the Deliveroo and SevenRooms acquisitions is a non-cash charge for spreading acquisition cost over time and was added back, but its economic reality - that these acquisitions still have to earn back their purchase price through real operating performance - is reflected in how conservatively we treated their near-term contribution in the base case, rather than in a reduction to reported earnings. Separately, DoorDash holds a $5 billion share buyback authorization but repurchased no shares during 2025, so share count has continued to rise from stock-based compensation; continued dilution at recent rates, if not offset by buybacks, would modestly reduce the per-share values above over time.
