The Vita Coco Company sells coconut water (Vita Coco, its flagship brand), private-label coconut water for retailers, and a small but growing line of other products such as Vita Coco Treats. It owns no factories: independent manufacturers in the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Thailand, Brazil, Vietnam and Indonesia produce and pack the product. 2025 net sales were $609.8 million (up 18.2%), of which the Americas were $508.8 million and International $101.0 million. How we measure earnings. We start from operating cash flow and take out the swings in receivables, inventory and payables, then subtract stock-based compensation as a real cost and subtract only the capital spending needed to maintain the business (growth spending is treated as optional). On that basis owner earnings per share were about $0.51 (2020), $0.32 (2021), $0.18 (2022), $0.81 (2023), $1.13 (2024) and $1.05 (2025). We use the middle value of 2023 to 2025, $1.05, as the normal level. 2021 and 2022 are excluded because freight and product-cost inflation cut gross margin from about 37% in 2020 to 30% in 2021 and 24% in 2022; the 2023 to 2025 margins (36.6%, 38.5%, 36.5%) describe the business as it now operates. Removing the working-capital swings matters here: the company has built inventory and receivables as it grows, which held reported operating cash flow to $47 million in 2025 even though net income was $71 million. Owner earnings include roughly $6.5 million a year of interest earned on its cash balance (about $198 million at year-end 2025); we do not add that cash on top of the values below, because the interest is already in the earnings we value. Growth check. Owner earnings per share fell about 7% in 2025 (to $1.05 from $1.13), mainly because capital spending rose to $8.1 million from about $1.0 million and stock compensation rose. Because our $1.05 level already equals the 2025 result, the base case assumes no growth in its first year, not a rebound. Interim figures filed in July 2026 show first-half 2026 net income of $79.9 million versus $41.8 million a year earlier and operating cash flow of $96.5 million versus $12.0 million; we did not move the level on that, and the cause could not be examined because the quarterly filing text was not available for this analysis, but it is consistent with the level holding. What we credit as growth. Vita Coco-branded volume grew 21.3% in 2025 and net sales have risen every year since 2020, including 2022 when costs spiked. Because that record is real but comes partly from the coconut water category growing and from share gains, which we do not count on, the base case credits only 3% a year for years 2 to 5 and 2% for years 6 to 10, far below the roughly 14% annual sales growth of 2020 to 2025. We leave out new products, further international expansion and margin gains. After year 10 the brand's long record is the only support, so the base case lets earnings fade 3% a year rather than assuming permanence. Bear case, about $6.3 per share. Two customers made up 44% of 2025 net sales (25% and 19%; the second was 30% in 2023), and the company has already lost regions of private-label business with key retailers (Americas private label sales fell 30.2% in 2025). Tariffs on coconut water from Asia and Brazil were imposed in 2025 and later waived, and the 10-K warns they could return. The bear case assumes a repeat of the 2021-22 cost squeeze, with owner earnings of about $0.30 per share for three years, recovery only to about $0.55 (the 2020 level) with no growth, and a 4% annual fade after year 10. Base case, about $16.5 per share. Owner earnings start at $1.05, stay flat in year 1, grow 3% then 2% as described, and fade 3% a year after year 10. Bull case, about $24.5 per share. Owner earnings start at $1.13 (the 2024 result), then grow 8% a year for years 2 to 5 and 5% a year for years 6 to 10, which is below the demonstrated pace and rests on the branded volume growth already shown (branded International sales rose 43.0% in 2025), then fade 2% a year. What would make this wrong. The values fall sharply if either large customer reduces or drops the brand, if tariffs return and cannot be passed on in price, or if private-label competition takes branded share. They rise if branded volume growth of the recent pace continues for many more years than we credit. The margin-of-safety price is about $9.50 per share, well below the base value because of the customer concentration and tariff exposure. Debt is not a factor, as the company held cash and no borrowings at the end of 2025 (a credit-facility borrowing history exists but nothing was drawn per the cash flow statement).
