Connect Biopharma is a clinical-stage drug developer headquartered in San Diego, California, with a laboratory in Taicang, China. It has one drug, rademikibart, an antibody that targets the interleukin-4 receptor alpha (IL-4Rα). The company is testing it as an add-on treatment for patients with asthma or COPD and Type 2 inflammation who are having an acute exacerbation. It sells no products. Its only revenue comes from a 2023 license to Simcere Pharmaceutical, which holds the rights for mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. By the end of 2025 Connect had received the full $21 million upfront payment plus $6.5 million of milestones and cost reimbursements. It recorded another $2.8 million in the second quarter of 2026, mainly from a regulatory milestone. It is eligible for further milestones (about $110 million in aggregate as of year-end 2025) and for royalties of up to low double-digit percentages on Greater China sales. Simcere filed for Chinese approval in atopic dermatitis in July 2025 and reported positive Phase 3 results in that disease in March 2026. What the business earns. We measure owner earnings as operating cash flow with working-capital timing removed, less share-based pay and capital spending. On that basis Connect lost $63.1 million in 2023, $15.6 million in 2024 and $55.9 million in 2025, or about $1.15, $0.28 and $1.01 per share. 2024 looks better only because $26.0 million of Simcere license revenue was recognized that year, about $13 million of it from cash received in 2023. The typical year in this window is a loss of about $1.01 per share, and spending has not eased: operating cash outflow was $31.9 million in the first half of 2026 alone, while the two Phase 2 Seabreeze STAT trials were enrolling. No growth is credited in any case. The loss in the latest full year was wider than in 2024, and nothing in the filings shows spending turning into income on a dated schedule. Why the value comes down to the cash. A business that loses money every year has no positive value as a going concern. Discounted at 6%, a stream of losses of roughly $56 million a year is worth far less than nothing. But the company has no borrowings, and shareholders are not obliged to fund losses beyond the cash already in the company. So the practical question is how much of today's cash will still belong to today's shareholders after the spending already under way. At June 30, 2026 the company held $31.5 million of cash and short-term investments and a $2.9 million receivable, against $16.6 million of total liabilities, almost all of them current. That leaves about $17.8 million, or $0.28 per share on 63.0 million shares. Those figures already include a March 2026 private placement of 6.1 million shares for $20.2 million gross. The business did not fund itself. Bear case: $0.00 per share. On September 15, 2026 the company reported that its Phase 2 asthma trial missed its primary endpoint (treatment failure over 28 days, p=0.153), although patients' lung function improved significantly by day 7. The company has said it will seek FDA agreement on a Phase 3 program, and in August 2026 it began a further Phase 2 study of an intravenous form. In this case the remaining cash is spent on that program and the Chinese approval does not arrive in time to matter. Further funding then comes from issuing new shares at prices that leave today's holders with little. Because nothing is owed to lenders, the shares are worth nothing, not less than nothing. Base case: $0.03 per share. The median path is that the company keeps spending at close to its first-half 2026 rate, about $16 million a quarter, through the COPD trial readout (expected later in September 2026) and the start of the intravenous study. One more quarter at that pace uses almost all of the $17.8 million of net liquid assets, leaving about $1.8 million, or $0.03 per share. Simcere's milestones and royalties are real contractual rights, but they depend on a Chinese approval that has not yet been granted and on sales the filings give no way to size. They are therefore given no value. Bull case: $0.28 per share. Here the company's own levers work. Simcere's Chinese application is approved and milestone cash arrives, and management cuts spending once the Phase 2 trials end. That fits its August 2026 statement that $31.5 million would fund operations for at least a year from then. The net liquid assets held at mid-2026 are preserved rather than consumed. Even in this case rademikibart's own prospects in asthma and COPD are given no value, because no Phase 3 trial has begun and the Phase 2 asthma trial did not meet its main goal. Debt. The company has no borrowings, so in every case the value of the business and the value to shareholders are the same. The bear case is worth $0 and owes nothing. The base case is worth about $1.8 million and owes nothing. The bull case is worth about $17.8 million and owes nothing. Margin-of-safety price. The base case is about three cents, and the bull case rests only on cash that may still be spent. On today's evidence there is no price with a real margin of safety, so the margin-of-safety price is set at one cent. This estimate would be wrong if a Chinese approval brought royalty income large enough to fund the company, or if a partner paid for a Phase 3 program. Neither is in hand today. The company has in the past received Nasdaq notices for trading below the $1.00 minimum bid price and regained compliance each time.

Chart analysis
Based on third-party price data as of September 25, 2026, the shares traded around $1.09, down roughly 95% over five years, about 62% year to date and about 51% in September alone, including a one-day drop of about 32% on September 15, 2026, the day the asthma trial results were released. A chartist would read this as a persistent long-term downtrend with a fresh breakdown on news. The stock sits just above the $1.00 level, both a psychological threshold and the Nasdaq minimum bid price, with no base or reversal pattern visible yet. An 8.8% gain on the August 12 earnings day did not hold.
