Blackstone Secured Lending Fund is a publicly traded, externally managed lender (a business development company) that makes senior secured, floating-rate loans to mid-sized companies, mostly sponsor-backed and mostly first-lien. Its earnings are the interest and fees on that loan book less its own borrowing costs and management and incentive fees, and it must pay nearly all of it out; the dividend has been $0.77 per quarter ($3.08 a year) since late 2023. How we measured earnings: a lender's cash flow statement is dominated by loans made and repaid, so it says little about earning power. We used net investment income per share instead: $2.52 (2020), $2.45 (2021), $2.92 (2022), $4.00 (2023), $3.59 (2024) and $3.30 (2025). There is no capital spending or stock compensation to deduct. Interest paid and fees are already netted out. Income is counted before realized and unrealized loan losses, so we charge those losses in the growth path instead. The peak-rate years 2022-2023 are not treated as normal: about 99.6% of performing loans float with short-term rates, and income has fallen 8% in 2025 and is running near $3.06-$3.11 annualized in the first half of 2026 (about $0.79 in Q1 and $0.77 in Q2 per share). Year one of every case therefore starts below 2025's $3.30, in line with that trend. Base case (about $32 per share): income of about $3.05 per share, then eroding roughly 3.5% a year as credit losses shrink the loan book per share. The evidence for erosion is in the filings: book value per share fell from $27.39 at the end of 2024 to $25.53 in June 2026, and five borrowers (eight loans) were on non-accrual at the end of 2025 versus four (five loans) a year earlier. Growth from new loans is not credited: raising new equity at around book value adds no earnings per share, and past growth in loan volume is not a repeatable per-share driver. Bear case (about $18): rates fall further and income drops to about $2.50, with non-accruals rising and income eroding about 8% a year. Roughly $101 million of income in 2025 was paid-in-kind (non-cash), up from $47 million in 2023, and that non-cash portion is the most exposed if borrowers weaken. The lender is also leveraged, which worsens the downside. Bull case (about $42): income holds near $3.20 with losses limited to about 1.5% a year, as it did over 2024-2025 when payouts were maintained. What would make this wrong: a broad credit downturn among private-equity-owned borrowers, faster rate cuts than a base case assumes, or a larger share of income shifting to non-cash payment-in-kind. On the other side, stable credit and higher-for-longer rates would push toward the bull case. The stock is treated as a leveraged, credit-sensitive income vehicle, so the margin-of-safety price of $17 sits just under the bear case value; at that price the current dividend would represent an income yield near 18%. Note: 2018-2019 figures could not be drawn from the available filings, so the earnings history covers 2020-2025.
