BETA Technologies, Inc. (BETA) stock intrinsic value fair value estimate & owner earnings analysis

Margin of safety$0.00 ComplexityHigh Updated
Business condition attached to the margin of safety FAA type certification of its aircraft, deliveries under the firm orders, and operating cash flow turning positive for at least two consecutive years
BETA Technologies is developing electric aircraft (the ALIA VTOL and ALIA CTOL) and electric propulsion and charging systems. It reported revenue of $35.6M in 2025 (up from $15.1M in 2024) against an operating cash outflow of $267.8M, a net loss of $745.9M, and capital spending of $45.4M. Stock-based compensation rose to $34.8M. Cash burn has been deeply negative in every year we can see (2023 to 2025), and the first half of 2026 shows no change: operating cash flow of $(170.2)M. Our approach values only the cash the business demonstrably generates for its owners after paying for its operations, share-based pay and the upkeep of its assets. On that basis the business has produced negative owner earnings every year, about $(7) per share in 2023 and 2024 and about $(4.43) per share in 2025 (on a share count that only reflects part of the year after the late-2025 IPO; the current count is roughly 232 million). The company reports a backlog of 891 aircraft worth $3.47 billion, of which 289 are firm orders and 602 are options. That is a meaningful order book, but the filing describes certification of its aircraft as a target still ahead (for the conventional-takeoff aircraft, roughly 12 months after type certification of its H500A electric motor), and it warns it cannot say when, or whether, backlog will become revenue. There is no dated, contracted path to profit. Under our approach growth must be secured or already proven; a backlog of uncertified aircraft is neither, so it is not credited to any case. Bear, base and bull cases are each valued at $0 per share. Bear: cash burn of roughly $300M+ a year continues without a certified product reaching production, and the business never generates surplus cash. Base and bull: nothing we can name and evidence today produces positive owner earnings, so those cases are also worth nothing on this method. This is a statement about the absence of evidenced cash generation, not a forecast that the company will fail. The company held $1,710M of cash at December 31, 2025, roughly five years of current burn, and the filing states this funds at least the next 12 months of operations, though it also warns that if financing is not obtained, doubt about continuing as a going concern could arise. That cash is not counted as value in our method. What would make this analysis wrong: FAA certification of the ALIA aircraft followed by deliveries against the firm orders at margins that turn operating cash flow positive. If that occurs, the value would be well above zero. No margin-of-safety price applies until certification and two consecutive years of positive owner earnings have occurred.
