Aviat Networks designs and sells microwave and millimeter-wave radio equipment, software and field services that carry mobile-network and private-network traffic (mobile backhaul, public safety, utilities). Fiscal 2026 (year ended July 3, 2026) revenue was $439.7 million, split roughly 48% United States and the rest across Africa and the Middle East, Europe, Latin America and Asia Pacific. No customer exceeds 10% of revenue. Backlog rose to about $367 million from $323 million a year earlier, and management expects to deliver substantially all of it in fiscal 2027. How we measure earnings. We take operating cash flow, strip out the swings in receivables, unbilled receivables, inventory, payables and other working-capital items, and then subtract stock compensation and the portion of capital spending needed to maintain the business. On that basis, owner earnings per share were: fiscal 2021 $2.05, 2022 $2.74, 2023 $2.33, 2024 $1.94, 2025 $0.23, 2026 $0.91. Earlier years were near zero or slightly negative (fiscal 2018 -$0.16, 2019 $0.04, 2020 $0.49). Per-share figures are adjusted for the April 2021 two-for-one stock split. Which years describe the business today. We anchor on fiscal 2024 to 2026, the years since the November 2023 NEC acquisition, which lifted revenue above $400 million and was funded with debt. The median of those years is $0.91 per share. We did not use fiscal 2021 to 2023 as the anchor. That was a smaller, debt-free company, and its cash taxes were very low because of loss carryforwards. Today interest expense is $7.7 million a year, the effective tax rate is high (a $10.7 million tax provision on $13.2 million of pre-tax income in fiscal 2026), and gross margin is about 31.5%. Fiscal 2026 owner earnings of $0.91 grew sharply from $0.23 in fiscal 2025, but that is a recovery from a depressed year. We assume no growth from it, and year one of the base case simply holds at $0.91. Working capital. The company has absorbed about $31 million of cash into working capital over the last three years, mostly in receivables and inventory tied to large project deliveries. We exclude this as timing. At year-end fiscal 2026 unbilled receivables and inventory had fallen from the prior year, which is consistent with it unwinding. Cash flow reconciled to net income plus non-cash charges and working-capital movements in every year we tested. Intangible amortization from the acquisitions ($2.9 million a year) is a non-cash add-back. We did not credit any growth, so that decay is not offset by an assumed increase. Base case, $10.07 per share. Owner earnings stay at $0.91 for ten years, then fade to zero over the following twenty. This is a mature, specialised radio franchise that has never reported revenue below about $238 million in the past ten years, and it has a backlog and a services and software installed base behind it. We credit no growth. Revenue growth from 5G and LTE build-outs, tariff pass-through and margin recovery are not yet secured, so they are left out. Bear case, $2.18 per share. Owner earnings stay at the fiscal 2025 level of $0.23 for ten years and then fade over ten more. The named pressures are all in the filing: Latin America and Asia Pacific revenue fell $26 million in fiscal 2026 as field services dropped 50%. Service margin fell from 40.7% to 36.3%. Tariffs are raising supply-chain costs. About $97.6 million of Term Loan and Revolver debt at roughly 6.5% falls due in October 2029, so interest keeps absorbing cash. Bull case, $21.31 per share. Owner earnings return to the $1.94 earned in fiscal 2024, the first year after the NEC acquisition, and hold for ten years before fading over twenty. Two things in the filings make this reachable: the larger backlog, and software and licenses revenue growing 10% (25% in North America). We did not credit further expansion. What would make this wrong: a prolonged downturn in operator capital spending, loss of the service revenue that has already started falling, or difficulty refinancing the 2029 debt. Some results could not be fully reconciled. Fiscal 2025 and 2026 cash flow is well below fiscal 2021 to 2023 even though revenue is higher, and we attribute this to the debt, taxes and a lower margin rather than a one-off. Working-capital swings make any single year an unreliable guide.
