AST SpaceMobile, Inc. (ASTS) stock intrinsic value fair value estimate & owner earnings analysis

Margin of safety$0.00 ComplexityHigh Updated
Business condition attached to the margin of safety Cash from operations exceeds capital spending and stock compensation on a sustained basis, with the satellite network funded without further share or convertible-note issuance.
AST SpaceMobile is building a network of large satellites (the BlueBird series) that connect directly to ordinary smartphones, sold wholesale to mobile carriers. It has definitive commercial agreements with AT&T, Verizon, STC and Vodafone, and about 50 preliminary understandings with other carriers. Five first-generation BlueBird satellites have been in service since October 2024. Revenue was $70.9 million in 2025, up from $4.4 million in 2024 and none in 2023. Our valuation counts only cash the business has actually shown it can produce. On that measure the company has consumed cash in every year we could measure. After deducting stock compensation, per-share owner earnings were about -$3.60 in 2023, -$1.74 in 2024 and -$0.94 in 2025. In 2025 operating cash flow was -$71.5 million, but that flattered the picture: $161.5 million of it came from customers' advance payments recorded as contract liabilities, which we strip out as a timing effect. Capital spending was $1.06 billion in 2025, and most of it is network build-out rather than upkeep. Bear, base and bull cases are all worth $0 per share. Carrier agreements and satellite launches are real, but the filings do not show contracted revenue at a scale or margin that turns into positive owner earnings, and forecasting that outcome would rely on subscribers, pricing and launches that have not yet happened. Growth that depends on those things is not credited. Advance payments are also not counted as earnings; for example, Verizon's $45.0 million prepayment is a commitment to be earned against future service, and it is conditional on regulatory approvals. The company is funded largely by selling shares and convertible notes (5.50% notes to AT&T, Google, Vodafone and Verizon), so existing shareholders' claims keep being diluted: diluted shares rose from 81.8 million in 2023 to 256.0 million in 2025. We do not treat $0 as a claim that the business is worthless today; it means we cannot support any value from evidenced earnings. What would prove this wrong is sustained positive cash from operations after capital spending and stock compensation, which the filings do not yet show.
