AN2 Therapeutics is a clinical-stage drug developer with no products for sale and no revenue. Its research is built on boron-based chemistry. Its lead compound, epetraborole, is now being tested in three Phase 2 efforts: a proof-of-concept study in polycythemia vera (a blood cancer) planned to start in India in the third quarter of 2026, with data possible from the fourth quarter of 2026 through 2027; an investigator-led study in Mycobacterium abscessus lung disease with Oregon Health and Sciences University, expected to report topline results in late 2027; and earlier-stage research programs. The company has no debt. What the business earns today: it loses money. Cash used in operations was $29.8 million in 2025, $49.3 million in 2024 and $53.3 million in 2023. After removing stock compensation (a real cost we charge in full) and working-capital timing, the per-share result was about -$1.20 in 2025, -$1.83 in 2024, -$2.86 in 2023 and -$2.72 in 2022. Losses per share have narrowed, but there is no positive earnings base to build a value on. The company reports no capital spending of note. How we valued it: we only count value that is already secured or is the output of a proven, repeatable process. AN2 has no approved product, no signed commercial contract that generates cash, and no track record of turning programs into revenue. Its earlier epetraborole programs did not produce an approval. The polycythemia vera and M. abscessus studies are early, and we cannot point to evidence that they will succeed, so the drugs are worth $0 in every case. The Brii Biosciences license for China and neighboring markets has produced no revenue. What is left is the cash on hand, less what the company will spend getting to its announced data readouts. Cash position: at June 30, 2026 the company held about $79.9 million in cash and investments (about $1.78 per share on roughly 44.8 million shares, counting pre-funded warrants), after a private placement closed in March 2026 that sold 8.2 million shares and pre-funded warrants for 5.8 million more at $2.85. We assume the company keeps funding its trials through the readouts, roughly the end of 2027 (about 18 months), and that the money spent by then is gone with no value credited in return. A small wind-down cost of about $3 million is deducted in the base and bull cases. Bear case (about $0 per share): spending returns to the 2024 level of about $49 million a year, the level the company has actually run at when it had more trials underway. That consumes most of the cash by the end of 2027, the studies do not produce a reason to continue, and wind-down costs of about $6 million leave little or nothing for shareholders. The company owes no debt, so the value is floored at zero, not negative. The business is worth roughly the cash that remains, which is about zero; it owes nothing; the difference is about zero. Base case (about $0.40 per share): spending runs at the first-half 2026 pace of about $38 million a year, which is the current pace with three Phase 2 efforts starting. By the end of 2027 roughly $23 million of cash remains; after about $3 million of wind-down costs and discounting 18 months at 6%, that is about $18 million, or about $0.40 per share. The pipeline itself is credited at $0 and there is no debt. Bull case (about $0.66 per share): spending stays at the 2025 level of about $30 million a year, which the company has already demonstrated it can do, and roughly $35 million remains at the end of 2027. After wind-down costs and discounting at 6%, that is about $29.5 million, or about $0.66 per share. Even here we give no credit for a successful trial, because nothing has yet been proven. Why this sits well below the cash balance per share: the company is spending its cash on research, and we cannot show that spending will produce anything of value. If the polycythemia vera or M. abscessus data are strong, the shares would be worth much more than these figures, but that would be a new fact about the drug, not something we can count on today. Conversely, if management were to cut spending sharply or return cash to holders, value would be closer to the $1.78 per share of cash. What could make this wrong: positive Phase 2 data, a partnership or licensing deal with upfront cash, or a decision to stop spending and preserve cash would all raise the value. The main risks on the other side are higher trial costs and another equity raise, which would dilute existing holders. Epetraborole's principal licensed patent claim expires in June 2028 under the Anacor license, with later applications pending for the new uses, and milestone and royalty obligations to Anacor would apply on any success. We could not reconcile the 2026 share count precisely from a full-text filing because the most recent quarterly report was available only as structured financial data, so we used the second-quarter 2026 diluted share count of about 44.8 million. Margin-of-safety price: given a business with no earnings, a downside case near zero and a high dependence on trial outcomes, a very large margin of safety is required, and the margin-of-safety price is around $0.10 per share.

Chart analysis
A chartist would see a stock that came public in March 2022 and has been in a long, broad downtrend since, typical of a clinical-stage biotech that has lost value as earlier programs disappointed and cash was spent. The March 2026 private placement at $2.85 per share sets a visible reference level, and the shares have traded in a low-priced, volatile range around and below the funding price since then; rallies have tended to be news-driven and short-lived rather than the start of a sustained uptrend. Without a base of rising lows, technical readers would treat it as a downtrend or basing pattern that needs a clear break above prior resistance to change the picture; upcoming Phase 2 data are the obvious catalysts for sharp moves in either direction.
