Business condition attached to the margin of safety The latest reported quarter still shows ASCENIV revenue growing year over year, and accounts receivable are not growing faster than revenue.
ADMA Biologics makes plasma-derived medicines at its FDA-licensed fractionation plant in Boca Raton, Florida, which the company says can process up to 600,000 liters of plasma a year. It has three approved products. ASCENIV is an intravenous immune globulin (IVIG) for primary immunodeficiency, made from plasma screened for high levels of antibodies to respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). BIVIGAM is a standard IVIG. Nabi-HB is a hepatitis B immune globulin. ADMA also runs its own plasma collection centers. About 99% of 2025 revenue came from the United States, and two customers accounted for 73% of revenue and 87% of year-end receivables. The business turned profitable only recently. Revenue grew from $154 million in 2022 to $258 million in 2023, $426 million in 2024 and $510 million in 2025. ASCENIV drives the story: its sales rose 51% in 2025 to $362.5 million, while BIVIGAM fell 14% to $122.0 million. In April 2025 the FDA approved a new production process that the company says raises ASCENIV and BIVIGAM yields by 20% or more from the same plasma. Gross margin rose from 51.5% in 2024 to 57.4% in 2025. Owner earnings, meaning the cash the business generates after stock-based pay, the capital spending needed to maintain it, and with working-capital swings smoothed out, were $10.8 million in 2023, $120.0 million in 2024 ($0.49 per share) and $149.7 million in 2025 ($0.61 per share). Every year before 2023 lost money. We treated 2025 as the best picture of today's business, and the first half of 2026 supports it, running at roughly $150 to $160 million a year. We gave less weight to 2024 for two reasons: it came before the yield improvement, and it included a one-time $12.6 million cut to the company's Medicaid rebate estimate. We also ignored the large non-cash tax benefit booked in 2024. We start from about $150 million a year, or roughly $0.64 per share on about 234 million diluted shares. The share count has fallen because the company bought back about $155 million of stock in the first half of 2026. One item could not be fully resolved from the filings. Receivables jumped from $50.0 million at the end of 2024 to $158.4 million at the end of 2025, the main reason reported operating cash flow fell to $50.4 million in 2025 even as profits rose. Management attributes this to the timing of sales. By June 2026 receivables had eased only to $138.2 million. We treated the build-up as timing, but if it reflects sales pulled forward into those two large customers, 2025 earning power is overstated. 2026 has been harder than planned. In its February 2026 annual report the company projected more than $635 million of 2026 revenue. With its first-quarter results it cut that to $530 to $560 million, citing competition and pricing pressure across the immune globulin market. First-half 2026 revenue was $238.9 million, flat with a year earlier. In the second quarter, ASCENIV grew 24% to $102.9 million while BIVIGAM fell 49% to $19.4 million. So ASCENIV is still growing, while the standard IVIG product is losing ground on price. A forecast cut this large, only a few months after it was issued, is a reason to rely on reported results rather than company targets. Base case (about $11.41 per share). Owner earnings grew about 25% in 2025. We assume 8% growth in the first year, to about $162 million. That is in line with first-half 2026 results and the reduced revenue outlook. Growth then slows to 11%, 9%, 6% and 4% as ASCENIV keeps gaining patients and the plant runs a full year on the higher-yield process. After that we assume 2% a year, reaching about $238 million in year ten. Cash taxes are already close to normal in 2026, so we assumed no further tax benefit. ASCENIV's specialty RSV plasma is secured under a Grifols supply contract running to September 2039 and a KEDPlasma contract running to July 2031. We hold earnings level through 2039, then halve them over the following decade. That reflects ADMA ending up as an ordinary IVIG maker with a licensed plant and patients who need lifelong treatment, but no product premium. They stay at that level to year 30. About $1.5 billion of the $2.7 billion value comes from the first ten years. Bear case (about $4.68 per share). The price pressure already hurting BIVIGAM spreads to ASCENIV. Owner earnings fall to $135 million next year and $120 million after that, then stay flat through year five. They then decline to $70 million by year ten as plasma costs keep rising (both RSV plasma contracts include yearly price increases) and ASCENIV's premium erodes. They hold there for ten more years and then stop. This case also reflects that nearly everything is made in one plant, the 2025 withdrawal of three BIVIGAM lots, and the dependence on two customers. Debt rose from $72 million at the end of 2025 to $197 million in June 2026, largely to fund buybacks, against $136 million of cash. That is manageable, but it leaves less room for error. Bull case (about $16.68 per share). ASCENIV keeps growing strongly and the higher-yield process lifts margins. The plant's stated capacity supports this without major new investment. Owner earnings reach $170 million, $205 million, $240 million, $270 million and $290 million over five years, then grow 4% a year to about $353 million in year ten. They hold for five years, fade to 60% of that level over the next decade, and hold again for five years. We gave no value to the SG-001 pneumococcal antibody program, which has not yet entered human trials, or to the company's revenue targets. We did not deduct debt separately, because owner earnings are measured after interest. The margin-of-safety price is around $6.50 per share. That is about 43% below the base value and about 40% above the bear value. At that price, our starting owner earnings of about $0.64 per share would represent a yield of nearly 10%. The margin is wide because the company depends on one product and one plant, relies on two customers for most of its sales, faces visible industry price pressure, and cut its own forecast sharply. This view would be wrong if ASCENIV growth stalls the way BIVIGAM's did, or if receivables keep rising faster than sales.
